Kevin Doyle, Garrowhill, Newtownforbes, Longford

The death occurred peacefully on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 of Kevin Doyle, Garrowhill, Newtownforbes, Co Longford (ex Leitrim County Council).

Kevin will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his family, beloved wife Mary (née Gregg), daughters Jennifer and Bernadette, son Dermot, daughter-in-law Aoife, grandchildren Róisín and Ciara, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, godchildren, relatives, neighbours and friends. May he rest in peace.

Reposing at Glennon’s Funeral Home, Ballinalee Road (N39 EC81) on Thursday, July 3 from 6pm concluding with prayers at 8pm. Mass of the Resurrection on Friday, July 4 at 12 noon in St Mary’s Church, Newtownforbes, interment afterwards in Newtownforbes cemetery. The Funeral Mass will be streamed live please view here

Mary Connell, San Diego, California / Ballyboy, Abbeylara, Longford

The death occurred on Monday, June 9, 2025 of Mary Connell, late of San Diego, California and formerly Ballyboy, Abbeylara, Longford.

Predeceased by her parents Michael and Bridget. Her sister Kathleen, brothers Mickie, Johnnie, Edward and Hughie. Mary will be sadly missed by her sisters Brigid (San Diego), Ann (West Sussex), Bernadette (Surrey), Sheila (Leicester), Christina (Dina) (Loughduff) and brother Joe (Longford), sister in law Mary, brothers in law Barry and John, nieces, nephews, large circle of relatives, friends, neighbours. May she rest in peace.

Funeral Mass on Thursday, July 3 at 12 noon in St Bernard's Church, Abbeylara, Co Longford, followed by Christian burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Anthony ‘Tony’ Brennan, Longford town, Co Longford

The death occurred unexpectedly in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada on Thursday, December 19, 2024 of Anthony ‘Tony’ Patrick John Brennan, Sudbury, Ontario, Canada and formerly of Harbour Row, Longford town, Co Longford.

Predeceased by his parents Winnifred ‘Dolly’ and Francis ‘Dex’ and by his sisters Netta, Laurie and Mary. Tony will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his family, his beloved wife Rosanne, his cherished children Elizabeth, Eileen, Maureen and John, grandchild Henry, sons-in-law Kevin and Joseph, daughter-in-law Catherine, sisters Vickie and Cathy, brothers Michael, Frankie, John Joe and Davie, sister-in-law Margaret, brother-in-law Tommy, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace.

Cremation has taken place at Park Lawn Crematorium in Sudbury. As Tony asked for his remains to be brought home to Ireland, Mass of the Resurrection will take place on Monday, July 14 at 11am in St Mel’s Cathedral, interment of ashes afterwards in Ballymacormack cemetery.

John McLaughlin, Garrymore Lane, Ballinagh, Cavan

The death occurred peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving wife and family on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 of John McLaughlin, Garrymore Lane, Ballinagh, Cavan.

Sadly and dearly missed by his heart broken wife Rosie and children Jonathan and Chantelle, Sisters and brothers Regina (Laurence), Catriona, Gerard (Lucinda) and Padraig (Stephanie), sisters in law, brothers in law, nieces, nephews, relatives, and a wide circle of friends and neighbours. May he Rest In Peace. 

Reposing at his home on Thursday, July 3 from 6pm until prayers at 8pm, Friday, July 4 from 6pm until prayers at 8pm. Funeral Mass on Saturday, July 5 at 11am in St Felim's Church, Ballinagh, followed by burial in the New Cemetery, Ballinagh. Funeral Mass will be live streamed HERE. The family would like to take this opportunity to thank all the Staff at Cavan General, St Vincent's Ward in the Mater & Palliative Care and everyone that cared for John over the past 6 months.

Eileen Sheppard (née Morgan), Bawnboy, Cavan

The death occurred peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, in Javea, Spain on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 of Eileen Sheppard (nee Morgan) Bawnboy, Cavan and Javea, Spain and formerly of Ealing, London.

Predeceased by her beloved husband Keith, her parents John and Eileen, and her brothers James, Richard, and Frank. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her brother Carl Morgan (Kells), her sister Anne McManus (Newtownforbes), the extended Sheppard family, her brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and neighbours. May Eileen Rest in Peace.

The death occurred peacefully at Roscommon Hospice, surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 of Padraig Kennedy Creta, Elphin, Strokestown, Roscommon town.

Loving husband of Margaret (neé Rafferty) and much loved father of David, Fiona, Joanne and Paul. Padraig will be sadly missed by his sorrowing wife & family, his fourteen grandchildren & two great-grandchildren, his brothers Mark & Kenneth, daughters-in-law Annette & Laura, sons-in-law John & Marcus, nephews, nieces, sisters-in-law, relatives, neighbours and many friends. Padraig is predeceased by his parents John & Bridget, his sisters Anita, Margaret & Kathleen and his brothers Sean, Des, Vincent & Jimmy. Rest In Peace.

Reposing at McHugh's Funeral Home on Friday, July 4 from 5pm until 7pm. Funeral Mass on Saturday, July 5 at 11am in Kiltrustan Church, followed by burial in Kiltrustan Cemetery.

Mary Bridget (Bridie) Fisher (née Dooner), Lislea, Kenagh, Co Longford / Roscommon

The death occurred at her home in Winchcombe, Gloucestershire, surrounded by her loving family in her 89th year on Thursday, June 19, 2025 of Mary Bridget (Bridie) Fisher (nee Dooner), formerly of Lislea, Kenagh, Co Longford. 

Predeceased by her parents Paddy and Bridget and her brothers Pat, Tom, Mike, James, John (Séan) and her sister Anne. Devoted wife to Les. Adoring mother to Carol and Gary. Loving sister to Gerry, Much loved mother in-law to Kevin and Sharon. Adored grandmother to Natalie, Rebecca, Shaun, Molly and Niall. Sorely missed by Great grandchildren and extended family, neighbours and friends. Bridie lived a life of love, fun and caring that touched so many people’s lives and we will all miss her deeply. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam.

A funeral service will take place on Friday, July 18 at St Nicholas’s Catholic Church, Winchcombe at 12.30pm. Private burial afterwards at Winchcombe Cemetery. Family flowers only please donations if desired to Dementia UK or Kate’s Home Nursing.

James Joseph 'Seamus' Murtagh, Mitcham, Surrey UK and Correally, Streete, Lismicaffrey, Mullingar, Co Westmeath

The death occurred on Thursday, June 19, 2025, aged 93 years, of James Joseph 'Seamus' Murtagh, Mitcham, Surrey UK and Correally, Streete, Lismicaffrey, Mullingar, Co Westmeath. 

Seamus was from Correally, Streete, Lismicaffrey, Mullingar, Co Westmeath and later in his life in Mitcham, Surrey UK. The funeral service will be held at St Cecilia’s RC Church, Cheam Surrey at 11am on Tuesday, July 22.

John Connolly, Cabra, Dublin / Drumreilly, Co Leitrim

The death occurred peacefully, surrounded by his loving family in the tender care of the staff in the Mater Hospital on Thursday, June 26, 2025 of John Connolly, late of Annamoe Drive, Cabra, Dublin and formerly Drumreilly, Co Leitrim. 

Predeceased by his beloved wife Bernadette. John will be very sadly missed and remembered always by his loving daughter Fiona, sister Mai, brothers James and Pat, sisters-in-law Mary and Chris, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends. May John’s gentle soul Rest in Peace.

Reposing in Massey Bros. Funeral Home, 88A New Cabra Road, Cabra, D07 ET92 on Wednesday, July 2 from 5pm - 7pm. Removal on Thursday morning, July 3 to Christ the King Church, arriving at 9:50am for Requiem Mass at 10am, followed by a Private Cremation Service for family only.
