The death occurred unexpectedly in New York on Thursday, April 24, 2025 of Elizabeth Rose (Eilish) Smith, New York and formerly of Drumury, Moyne, Co Longford

Predeceased by her father John. Survived by her husband Tommy, son Michael Patrick and Daughter in Law Haley, grandkids Maximus and Ryan Agnes, her mother Rose, her brothers and sisters Anne, Pauline, Bridie, Berni, James, Sean and Michael, Brothers in law and Sisters in law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral Mass at 2pm on Monday, May 5 in St Francis Xavier Church, Moyne, Co. Longford N39 P462 and interment afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. No flowers please - Donations in lieu to St Christopher's Longford to family members or c/o the undertaker.

Anna Mai Fitzsimons (née Reilly), 54 Villa Park Avenue, Navan Road, Dublin, D07 N9P6 / Ballinamuck, Longford

The death occurred peacefully surrounded by her loving family and in the exceptional care of the staff of St. Francis Hospice, Blanchardstown on Thursday, May 1, 2025 of Anna Mai Fitzsimons (née Reilly) 54 Villa Park Avenue, Navan Road, Dublin 7 and formerly Tawnagh, Ballinamuck, Co. Longford.

Predeceased by her parents Mary-Ann and Michael-Mel Reilly and Joseph Fitzsimons. Anna Mai will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her loving husband Tommy, daughter Laura, sons Kevin and Colin, son-in-law Richard, daughters-in-law Siobhan and Catherine, cherished grandchildren Finn, Cillian, Ben, Seán and Rían, brother Pat, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives, many good friends and neighbours. May She Rest In Peace.

Reposing at home in 54 Villa Park, Navan Road, Dublin 7 (Eircode D07 N9P6) on Friday, May 2 and Saturday, May 3 from 4pm until 8pm. Then reposing in Tawnagh, Ballinamuck, Co Longford (Eircode N39 V2X8) on Sunday, May 4 from 4pm concluding with prayers at 8pm. Funeral Mass on Monday, May 5 in St Patrick's Church, Ballinamuck at 12 noon, followed by burial in Ballinamuck new Cemetery. Family flowers only please, donations, if desired to St. Francis Hospice, Blanchardstown, care of Dillon & Shepherd Funeral Directors or any family member. House private Monday morning, May 5 please.

Bridie Hopkins (née Doyle), Westbrook, Ballymoneen Road, Knocknacarra, Galway / Longford Town, Longford

The recent death occurred peacefully surrounded by love after a long illness at home with her devoted husband Tony and family by her side on Thursday, May 1, 2025 of Bridie Hopkins (née Doyle), Westbrook, Ballymoneen Road, Knocknacarra, Galway / Longford Town, Longford. 

Deeply mourned by her sons and daughter, Johnny (England), Anthony (Australia) and Ruth (England), daughter-in-law Nayha, son-in-law Aiden, sisters Mary and Bernie, brother Kevin, treasured grandchildren Ciara, Shane and Aoife O’Donnell, Ethan, Julia and Leah, nephews and nieces Michael, Caitriona, Kevin, Deirdre and Eugene, sisters-in-law Margaret Cassidy and Mary Dooley, the extended Hopkins family, relatives and friends in particular by her long time carers Charlene and Doch, their colleagues, neighbours and friends.

Predeceased by her infant daughter Mary, parents Mary and Kevin, sister Catherine, sister-in-law Bríd, brother-in-law Gene, nieces Miriam (Mizzy), Clodagh and Fiona, Mary-Bridget and Jack Hopkins and the deceased members of the Hopkins family. ‘O Mary, we crown thee with blossoms today Wrap your arms around Bridie and present her to God the most high’. Removal from her home on Bank Holiday Monday, May 5 at 4pm to arrive at St Anthony’s Room within the Church of St John the Apostle, Knocknacarra for Reposing therein from 4.30pm. Removal into the Church at 6pm. Requiem Mass will be celebrated for Bridie on Tuesday, May 6 at 12 noon. Following Mass she will be laid to rest with Mary in the new cemetery. John Findlay, Mosstown, Kenagh, Co Longford and formerly Scotland and Surrey, England

The recent death has occurred peacefully in the wonderful care of the staff at Thomond Lodge Nursing Home, Ballymahon on Thursday, May 1, 2025 of John Findlay Mosstown, Kenagh, Co Longford and formerly Scotland and Surrey, England.

Beloved husband of Helen (nee Macken), much loved Father to Nicholas and Stephanie and Grandfather to Alexander and Aibhilín. Sadly missed by his loving wife, son and daughter, grandchildren, son-in-law Mick, daughter-in-law, Marie brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and neighbours.

Removal to arrive at St Matthew’s Church, Ballymahon on Thursday, May 8 at 7pm. Funeral mass on Friday, May 9 at 11am followed by burial in Shrule Cemetery.

John (Seán) Flynn, Corrib Park, Newcastle, Galway / Longford town, Co Longford

The death occurred peacefully in the wonderful care of the staff at Moycullen Nursing Home on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 of John (Sean) Flynn Corrib Park, Newcastle, Galway/ Longford town, Co Longford.

Beloved husband of Ellen and much loved father of Paul, Owen, Martin and Naomi. Deeply mourned and sadly missed by his wife, daughter and sons and their partners, his adored grandchildren Kevin, Mandy, Jamie, Christopher, Adam and Eric, the extended Flynn and Clabby family, neighbours, friends and his former colleagues in the Irish Defence Forces. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.

Funeral arrangements: Monday, May 5 reposing at the O' Flaherty Funeral Parlour, Munster Avenue, Galway (H91 V1K8) from 4.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. Tuesday, May 6 requiem Mass will be celebrated for Seán at St Joseph's Church, Presentation Road, on arrival at 11.00 a.m. Private cremation to follow.

Malachy Connolly, Longford town, Co Longford

The death occurred peacefully on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 of Malachy Connolly, Downley, Buckinghamshire. England / Longford town. 

Predeceased by his beloved parents Francis and Josephine. Malachy will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his family, sisters Theresa Peters (U.K.), Marie Fitzgerald (Longford) and Anne Bunting (U.K.), brother-in-law Trevor, Theresa’s partner Matt, nieces Sinead, Kirsty, Hannah, Sophie and Faye, nephews Sam and Callum, grand-nieces Jasmine and Maddie, grand-nephews Alfie, James, Jack and Arthur, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace.

Reposing at his sister Marie’s residence (Foynescourt, Longford N39 W9DO) on Monday, May 5 from 3pm until 5pm. Mass of the Resurrection in St Anne’s Church, Curry (N39 CX71) on Tuesday, May 6 at 11am, interment afterwards in Ballymacormack Cemetery.

Kitty Lavin (née Lane), Mullen, Frenchpark, Roscommon / Strokestown, Roscommon

The death occurred tragically, following an accident on Thursday, May 1, 2025 of Kitty Lavin (née Lane), Mullen, Frenchpark, Roscommon and formerly of Ardikellan, Strokestown, Co. Roscommon. (February 16, 1936 - May 1, 2025). Predeceased by her beloved husband Michael, her parents Elizabeth and Pat Lane, sister Ettie and brother Martin.

Kitty is sadly missed and remembered with love by her heartbroken family, her sons Pat and Gerry, her daughter Martina Langan (Ballymote), her adored grandson Michael, son-in-law Tommy, daughter-in-law Yvonne, Pat's partner Anne, sisters Mai and Breege, brothers Ed and Micheál, brother-in-law Pat Beirne, sister-in-law Linda Lane, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and many friends. May Kitty's gentle soul rest in the peace she so richly deserves.

Kitty will repose in The Sharkey Funeral Home, Frenchpark, on Sunday evening, May 4 from 4pm until 7pm. Removal from her home on Monday morning, May 5 to St Asicus’ Church, Frenchpark, arriving for Mass of the Resurrection at 11am. Burial afterwards in Cloonshanville Cemetery. The death occurred peacefully surrounded by her loving family, in the wonderful care of the staff of Roscommon Hospice, having previously been cared for by the staff of the Galway Clinic and her G.P.s , Doctors Nuala Hardiman and Annette Rogers on Saturday, May 3, 2025 of Josephine Tighe (née Dwyer), New Rooskey, Rooskey, Roscommon / Thurles, Tipperary. 

Predeceased by her parents, sisters, brothers, sisters in law and brothers in law. Beloved wife of Des, loving mother to Sharon, Cora, Jim, Maureen, Susan and Rachel and also sadly missed by their spouses Liam, Colm,Diane David, Declan Kennedy and Declan Kavanagh. Much loved Nana of Luke, Jarlath, Evan, Kenzie, Aisling, Clodagh, Claire, Adam, Laura, Andrew, Lucy and Rory. Sadly missed by her loving sister Carmel, brothers Ned and Willie, brothers in law and sisters in law, nieces and nephews, friends and neighbours. May she rest in peace.

The death occurred peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 of Seán Sherwin, Lavagh, Rooskey, Co. Roscommon.

Seán is predeceased by his loving wife, Betty Sherwin (née Davis),his sister Margaret,her husband Bernie and his recently deceased Cousin Pat (nee Dooner).Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his children John, Liz and Marc, and their spouses Caríosa, Tom and Dorcas, his grandchildren Seán, Tom and David, his brother Kevin and sister-in-law Catherine, his nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and neighbours. Seán will repose at his residence (N41 NP59), on Friday, May 2 from 6pm to 9pm. On Saturday, May 3 he will repose at Stafford’s Funeral Home in Ballyfermot, Dublin, from 3pm to 5pm, D10FY67. Removal to Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Ballyfermot, arriving for Funeral Mass on Monday, May 5 at 11:30am followed by a burial in Saggart Cemetery. The death occurred peacefully after a short illness in the loving care of the Staff at Mountpleasant Nursing Home, Kilcock on Thursday, May 1, 2025 of Kathleen Burns (née Beirne), Kilglyn, Kilcock, Meath and formerly of Cloncunny, Strokestown, Co. Roscommon.

Kathleen (Kay) will be sadly missed by her loving husband Brendan, children; John, Sophia & Mark, son-in-law Martin, daughter-in-law Úna, grandchildren; Juliette, Melissa & Lucas, extended family, friends & neighbours. May She Rest in Peace. House Private Please.

The death occurred peacefully, in the company of his family and with the kind and helpful care of the Staff of the North West Hospice, Sligo on Thursday, May 1, 2025 of Gabriel Fannon, Rockwell Park, Drumshanbo, Co Leitrim.

Adored husband of Bernadette, dearly loved father of Patrick, step sons Marius, William and Darren, cherished by brother Aiden, sisters Celine, Noeleen and Clare. Also remembering his deceased siblings Anne and Irene, brother-in-law Jimmy, Sadly missed by his wife, son, step sons, brother, sisters, nieces and nephews, relatives, neighbours and close friends especially, Martin Neville. May He Rest Peacefully With His Late Father And Mother Patrick And Kathleen.

Patricia Peters (née Dooner), Rooskey, Roscommon

The death occurred peacefully  in the presence of her loving family after an unexpected short illness, under the excellent care of the ICU staff at King’s College Hospital London on Friday, April 18, 2025 of Patricia Peters (née Dooner), Sevenoaks, Kent, UK and formerly Rooskey, Roscommon. 

Beloved wife of Alan and dear mother of Michelle and Chris, step-mother to David, sister to Seamus Dooner and cherished nana to Oliver, Daniel and Emily. Pat will also be sadly missed by her daughter-in-law and son-in-law and her dear cousins and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. May Pat rest in peace.

Funeral Mass will take place at St Thomas of Canterbury Catholic Church, Sevenoaks, Kent, TN13 1ER, on June 5 at 2pm (live-stream available).
