Edith Clendenning (née Stewart), Curry, Longford

The death occurred peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Thursday, April 24, 2025 of Edith Clendenning (nee Stewart), Curry, Athlone Road, Longford.  

Predeceased by her beloved husband William. Edith will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her family, sons Mervyn and Stewart, daughter-in-law Iris, grandchildren Trevor, Jason, Jacqueline and Anneka, great-grandchildren Emily, Seán, Lydia, Sam, Ben, Darragh, Killian, Fionn, Róisín and Mia, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Resting at the home of her son Mervyn and daughter-in-law Iris (Rockspring, Ballymacormack – N39 X771) on Saturday, April 26 from 2pm until 6pm. Removal to arrive at St Catherine’s Church, Ballymacormack at 8pm. Funeral Service on Sunday, April 27 at 2pm, interment afterwards in the adjoining churchyard. “With Christ, which is far better”. Rosemarie (Rose) Conefrey (née Tivnan), Edgeworthstown, Co Longford / Boyle, Roscommon / Dunboyne, Meath

The death occurred peacefully at Laurel Lodge Nursing Home, Longford surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 of Rosemarie (Rose) Conefrey (née Tivnan), Main Street, Edgeworthstown, Co Longford and formerly of Corr na Míolta, Boyle, Co Roscommon.

Predeceased by her daughter Ciara and her parents Patrick and Annie. May Rose Rest in Peace. Rose will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her family, her husband Mel, sons Alan and Ronan, daughters in law; Jennifer and Anne-Marie, grandchildren Josh, Sarah, Erin, Darragh, Aoife and Faye her sisters Margaret Coughlan, Rita Reynolds and Genevieve Barden her brothers Austin, Paddy, Frank, Matthew and Gerard, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Rose will repose at the residence of her son Ronan and daughter-in-law Anne-Marie at Ballytoohey, Tarmonbarry, Co. Roscommon (Eircode N39 CK88) on Thursday, April 24 from 3pm – 9pm. Funeral to arrive at St Mary's Church, Edgeworthstown on Friday, April 25 for Mass of the Resurrection at 12 noon followed by burial to Aughafin Cemetery.

Patrick Breslin, 10 Robinson Road, Newhall, Dervyshire, England / Esker, Ballinalee, Longford

The death occurred peacefully on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 of Patrick Breslin, 10 Robinstown Road, Newhall, Dervyshire, England/ Esker, Ballinalee, Co Longford. 

Predeceased by his beloved parents Alice and William, his brothers Bill and Danny. Paddy will be sadly missed by his children Paul and Alison, grandson Thomas, cousins, relatives, neighbours and friends here in Ireland and in England. Always in our thoughts, forever in our hearts. Rest in Peace.

Reposing in Connell's Funeral Home, Church St, Longford, N39 KN66 on Thursday, April 24 from 6pm concluding with prayers at 7pm. Requiem Mass on Friday, April 25 at 11am in St Mary's Church, Ennybegs, N39 AH0. Following Mass, Paddy will be laid to rest in the family plot in Aughaboy Cemetery. Mass can be viewed live HERE.

Marie Sheils, Sallaghan, Lough Gowna, Cavan

The death occurred at Virginia HSE Residential Centre on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 of Marie Sheils, Sallaghan, Lough Gowna, Co Cavan.  

Predeceased by her parents James and Bridget, her brothers Philip and John and her sister in law Carmel. Sadly missed by her brothers T.P. and Seamus, sister Nell, brother in law and sister in law, nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. 

Marie will repose at Lakelands Funeral Home, Dublin Road, Cavan (H12RF78) on Friday, April 25 from 5pm to 6.30pm with removal afterwards to The Church Of The Holy Family, Lough Gowna (H12FT54) for 7.30pm. Her funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, April 26 at 12noon followed by her burial in the adjoining cemetery. Ar Dheis Dé go raibh an h-anam dílis. The family would like to acknowledge the excellent care and kindness shown to Marie by the staff at Virginia HSE Residential Centre.

Michael (Mick) Kane, Manorhamilton, Leitrim / Ballinagh, Cavan

The death occurred peacefully at Sligo University Hospital on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 of Michael (Mick) Kane, Manorhamilton, Co Leitrim and formerly Cashel. Ballinagh /Moynehall, Cavan. 

Predeceased by his parents Phil and Edna and his sister Margaret. Sadly missed by his sons Gary (Sinead), Sean (Connie) and their mother Jo, grandchildren Caoimhe and James, sisters Sandra, Sharon, Susan and brothers Sean and Andrew, Sisters in law and brothers in law, nieces and nephews.

Con (Cornelius) Canning, Coolabawn, Mohill, Leitrim

The death occurred peacefully in the loving care of the staff at Lough Erril Private Nursing Home, Mohill on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 of Con (Cornelius) Canning, Coolabawn, Mohill, Leitrim. Predeceased by his parents Patrick & Eleanor Canning (Drumherk, Gorvagh), his brother Pat, sisters Maureen and Tess, and his nephews Peter & Francis Walsh.

Con will be lovingly remembered by his sisters Kay (Walker), Breda (Lalor), Ela (Epstein), brother Frank, nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, cousins, extended family, neighbours and friends. May Con's Gentle Soul Rest In Peace. 

Reposing at The Oratory, Lough Erril Nursing Home (N41XE39) on Thursday, April 24 from 6pm to 8pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 25 at 12 noon in St Patrick’s Church, Mohill with burial afterwards in Mohill Cemetry. Con’s Funeral Mass may be viewed HERE. 

Gerard Gormley, Kilbrackan, Carrigallen, Leitrim

The death occurred, suddenly in Bali, on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 of Gerard Gormley, Kilbrackan, Carrigallen, Co Leitrim. Beloved son of Joe and Maureen (nee McManus). Predeceased by his aunt Rosie McHugh and his cousins Rosemary McGillycuddy and Baby Thomas McManus.

Gerard will be sadly missed by his heartbroken parents Joe and Maureen, his brothers Padraig (Cait) and Brian (Maggie), his nieces and nephews Kate, Darragh, Aoife and Ollie, his loving Fiancé Miya. His uncles Jackie (Margaret) McManus, Seamie (Helen) McManus and uncle in law Jimmy McHugh, all his cousins and wide circle of friends near and far.

Sr Teresa Moran, Drumkeelanbeg, Drumshanbo, Leitrim

The death occurred in her 92nd year on Thursday, March 27, 2025 of Sr Teresa Moran (Marist Sisters) formerly of Dumkeelanbeg, Drumshanbo, Co Leitrim and Villa Maria, Hythe, Kent. Sr Teresa is now reunited with her parents John and Bridget Moran, her brothers Tommie Joe and Vincent, her sister Sr. Kathleen, her sisters-in-law Mary and Nancy and her niece Myra Flynn. Sr. Teresa will be forever loved and dearly missed by her nephew Joe Moran, her nieces Noreen McNabola (Kilnagross) Josephine McTigue and Teresa Keaney (Drumshanbo) and the entire Marist Community. May Sr. Teresa Rest In Peace.

Sr Teresa will repose at the residence of her nephew Joe and Grainne Moran, Ballinaboy, Leitrim PO, Co Leitrim (N41 XP48) on Thursday, April 24 from 3.00 pm to 8.00 pm and her Funeral Mass will take place in St. Patrick's Church, Drumshanbo on Friday, April 25 at 11.00 am with burial afterwards in the new Cemetery. Brendan Dunne, Gardanne, France / formerly of Ballyleague, Lanesboro, Roscommon

The death occurred peacefully following an illness borne with great courage on Saturday, March 15, 2025 of Brendan Dunne, Gardanne, France and formerly of Ballyleague, Lanesboro, Co Roscommon. 

Beloved husband to Marion (McDevitt) and devoted father to Emma & Matthieu. Cherished son of Noreen and the late Denis. Loving brother to Siobhán, Gráinne, Gary, Niamh & Fiona. Brendan will be sadly missed by his heartbroken family, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and a wide circle of friends and neighbours.
