Kathleen Keenan (née Donlon), Slyhaun, Legan, Longford / Lanesboro, Longford

The death occurred peacefully in the excellent care of Sonas Nursing home Athlone on Saturday, March 1, 2025 of Kathleen Keenan (née Donlon), Slyhaun, Legan, Longford and formerly Lehery, Lanesboro, Longford. 

Predeceased by her husband Michael. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by her daughter Katherine (Duffy), son-in-law Michael, grandchildren Emer and Eoin. Sister Annie Kelly (Legan). Brothers Patsy (Lehery) and Peter (Celbridge). Sister-in-law Sheila. Nephews Padraig and Mark. Nieces Jean, Leisa and Anita. Cousins, relatives, friends, carers and neighbours. Rest in Peace.

Reposing in St Mary’s Church Legan this Monday evening, March 3 from 5pm until 7pm followed by prayers at 7pm. Funeral mass on Tuesday, March 4 at 11am in St Mary’s church followed by burial in Carrickedmond cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations if desired to The Alzheimer’s Society.

Sean Dunning, Ballymakeegan, Longford Town, Longford / Athlone, Roscommon

The death occurred peacefully in the wonderful care of the nurses and staff in Laurel Lodge nursing home on Friday, February 28, 2025 of Sean Dunning, Ballymakeegan, Longford, Co Longford, & formerly of Clonown, Athlone, Co Roscommon. Predeceased by his wife Maisie, parents Lena and Peter and sister Kathleen. Sean will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his family, sister Anne, brothers Hubert and Padraig, the Kelly and Quaine families, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May He Rest In Peace.

Patrick (Paddy) McNamara, 3 The Village Manor, Cartron Village, Sligo Town, Sligo / Longford Town, Longford

The death occurred peacefully at his home on Thursday, February 27, 2025 of Patrick (Paddy) McNamara, 3 The Village Manor, Cartron Village, Sligo Town, Sligo / Longford Town, Longford. 

Predeceased by his wife Helen and sister Noel. He will be sadly missed by his sisters Maeve, Nono and Carmel, brother Frank, brother-in-law Brendan, sister-in-law Patricia, nephews Alan and David, niece Jill, his good neighbours and numerous friends. Rest in Peace

A Celebration of Paddy’s Life will take place on Tuesday, March 4 at 2pm at The Foley and McGowan Funeral Home, Market Yard, Sligo (F91YR61). Kathleen Finnan (née Leavy), Kilnasavogue, Longford town, Co Longford

The death occurred peacefully after a short illness surrounded by her family in Midlands Regional Hospital Mullingar on Thursday, February 27, 2025 of Kathleen Finnan (nee Leavy), Kilnasavogue, Longford town.

Predeceased by her parents James and Agnes and by her sisters Margaret Farrell and Louie Dillon. Kathleen will be sadly missed by her family; her loving husband Seamus, her nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, relatives, neighbours and friends. May she rest in peace.

Reposing in Glennon's Funeral Home, Ballinalee Road Longford on Sunday, March 2 from 6pm concluding with prayers at 8pm. Mass of the resurrection on Monday, March 3 in St Mel's Cathedral at 1pm followed by interment in Ballymacormack Cemetery. Family flowers only please. House private please.

Mary Connolly (née McGrath), Corrogarrow, Longford town, Co Longford, N39 DA27

The death occurred peacefully in St Vincent’s Hospital, Dublin with her family by her side on Thursday, February 27, 2025 of Mary Connolly, Melview House, Corrogarrow, Co Longford.

Predeceased by her parents, her brother Gerard and by her beloved husband Hugh. Mary will be greatly missed by her family; daughter Emma, sons Hugh and David, son-in-law Simon, daughter-in-law Melissa, sister Margaret Mulhall, brothers Tom and Maxie, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.

Reposing at her home in Melview House (N39 DA27) on Saturday, March 1 from 4pm to 7pm. Mass of the Resurrection on Sunday, March 2 at 12 noon in St Mary's Church, Newtownforbes followed by interment in Newtownforbes Cemetery. Elizabeth (Eileen) Murphy (née Brady), Firmullagh, Moyne, Longford / Millstreet, Cork

The death occurred peacefully after a long illness in the loving care of the doctors, nurses and staff of Cavan General Hospital on Thursday, February 27, 2025 of Elizabeth (Eileen) Murphy (née Brady), Firmullagh, Moyne, Co Longford and formerly of Smear, Aughnacliffe, Co Longford. 

Predeceased by her parents; Edward and Mary Brady, Smear, Aughnacliffe. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by her loving husband Benjamin, her brothers Eamonn, Charlie, Mike and Felim, her sisters Breda, Mary, Rose, Theresa and Ellen, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, extended family, neighbours and friends. May Elizabeth Rest in Peace.

Elizabeth will repose at her residence at Firmullagh, Moyne (Eircode N39HA29) on Sunday, March 2 from 4pm - 8pm followed by prayers. Mass of the Resurrection in St. Mary’s Church, Legga, Moyne on Monday, March 3 at 12 noon followed by burial to Colmcille Cemetery.

Rita O'Connor (née Masterson), Artane, Dublin / Longford town, Co Longford

The death occurred peacefully in Bartra Nursing Home, Northwood on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 of Rita O’Connor (nee Masterson) Artane, Dublin formerly Longford town. 

Rita, beloved wife to the late Rory, she will be very sadly missed by her loving sons Derek, Mark and Ian, daughters Miriam and Eleanor, daughters-in-law Ruth, Angela and Olivia, sons-in-law Colm and Kieran, her 14 grandchildren, brothers Mel, Sean and Ray, sisters Marie, Annette and Pat, nieces, nephews, extended relatives, neighbours and friends. May she Rest in Peace.

Reposing in Staffords Funeral Home, Maypark, Donnycarney on Saturday, March 1 from 2-4pm. Funeral Mass on Monday, March 3 in Our Lady of Mercy Church, Artane at 10am followed by Cremation in Dardistown Crematorium. Matthew (Mattie) Forde, Clondra, Longford / Kiltimagh, Mayo

The death occurred peacefully in Midlands Regional Hospital Mullingar with his family by his side on Sunday, February 23, 2025 of Matthew (Mattie) Forde, Clondra, Co Longford and formerly of Bohaunes, Kiltimagh, Co Mayo and New York. Predeceased by his parents Matthew and Nora and by his brother Peter. Mattie will be lovingly missed by his family; his wife Mary, sons Matt (Dublin), Kevin and Brian (New York), daughters Monica (Ennis) and Teresa (Galway), brothers Michael, John, Pius, sisters Mary, Aine, Eithne and Bernie, daughters-in-law Therese and Joni, son-in-law Michael, grandchildren Justin, Dubheasa, Brianna, Olivia, Michael, Jessica, Matthew, Lexi and Jadi, great-grandchildren Rían, Layla and Seán, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends. May he rest in peace.

Mass of the Resurrection on Saturday afternoon, March 1 at 2pm in St Brendan's Church, Cloondara, Co Longford. Mattie's cremation will take place on Sunday afternoon, March 2 at 2pm in Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan (H12 RF78).     Michael Sneyd, Elphin Street, Strokestown, Roscommon / Tallaght, Dublin

    The death occurred peacefully in Roscommon Hospice surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 of Michael Sneyd, late of Elphin Street, Strokestown, Co Roscommon and formerly of Pineview Rise, Aylesbury, Tallaght.  

    Predeceased by his parents Kathleen and Christy and brothers Anthony, Robert, Noel, Paul and Sean. Michael will be sadly missed by his sisters Breda and Tina, brothers Toddy, Joseph, Patrick and Peter, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and neighbours. Rest in Peace.

    Sr Dominica (Peggy) O'Reilly, Rathbracken, Granard, Longford / Ballymote, Sligo

    The death occurred peacefully, in her 96th year, in West Leaderville, Perth, Australia, in the loving care of St John of God's Convent Sisters and her nephew, Kevin Gallagher on Friday, February 21, 2025 of Sr Dominica (Peggy) O'Reilly, late of Rathbracken, Granard, Co Longford and formerly of St John of God Convent, Dun Bhrid, Ballymote, Sligo. 

    Predeceased by her parents, brothers and sisters, most recently her Sister Joan Gallagher, Rathbracken. Peg will be sadly missed by her Brother Tommy O'Reilly (Newry), Sisters Ellen Float (UK), Liz McNerney and Bridie Myericks (USA), nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

    A Memorial Mass will be offered in Peg's memory on March 21 at 7.30pm in St Mary's Church, Granard. Peg will be laid to rest in Perth. May she rest in eternal peace.
