Tony O'Hare, Shannonvale, Longford town, Co Longford

The death occurred suddenly but peacefully at home following a short illness on Thursday, February 20, 2025 of Tony O’Hare, Shannonvale, Longford town and formerly of Finglas, Co Dublin. 

Predeceased by his parents Jimmy and Molly and by his sisters Patricia and Resa. Tony will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his family, beloved wife Liz, daughters Johanna O’Hare, Louise Hajduk and Michelle Shanley, son Stephen, sister Ann, brother Alan, sons-in-law Fergal and Lubomir, grandchildren Ciaran, Emma, Cian, Aoife, Ciara, Alexandra and Daniel, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace.

Reposing at Glennon’s Funeral Home, Ballinalee Road (N39 EC81) on Sunday, February 23 from 6pm concluding with prayers at 8pm. Mass of the Resurrection on Monday, February 24 in St Mel’s Cathedral at 11am, interment afterwards in Ballymacormack cemetery. The Funeral Mass will be streamed live HERE. William Jeremiah Ben Donoghue, Tipperary town, Tipperary / Granard, Co Longford

The death occurred on Thursday, January 23, 2025 of William Jeremiah Ben Donoghue, Wembley, London, Springfield, Co Longford and Tipperary Town.

Sadly missed by his loving family, wife Elizabeth Lilly (Nee Glasheen) formerly of Croguehill, Tipperary, son David, daughter Deirdre, granddaughters Claudia and Morgan, brother Tom Joe & wife Maureen and family, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and friends. Rest in Peace.

Mass for William will take place in St Michael's Church, Tipperary on Sunday, February 23 at 11.30am and burial afterwards in St. Michael's Cemetery, Tipperary Town. Mass may be viewed HERE

Kathleen (Kathy) Madden (née Galligan), Bruce, Arva, Cavan / Dring, Longford

The death occurred in the loving care of the Medical staff at Cavan General Hospital on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 of Kathleen (Kathy) Madden (née Galligan), Bruce, Arva, Co Cavan and formerly Toome, Dring, Co LongfordShe was in her 94th year. Predeceased by her husband John Willie. Sadly missed by her loving twin sister Rose Masterson, nephew John, niece Kathleen (Cormac) O'Donnell, grand nieces, grand nephew, extended family, neighbours and friends. May her gentle soul rest in peace.

Reposing at Reilly's Funeral Home, Kilcogy Village (N39W1D6) on Friday evening, February 21 from 6pm with prayers at 8pm. Funeral Mass on Saturday, February 22 at 1pm in The Church of the Holy Family, Lough Gowna (H12FT54). Funeral Mass can be viewed HERE. Harry (Henry) McGann, Ballyleague, Roscommon / Ballymahon, Longford

The death occurred peacefully in the care of the staff of Portiuncula Hospital, Ballinasloe on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 of Harry (Henry) McGann, Ballyleague, Co Roscommon and formerly of Ballymahon, Co Longford.

Predeceased by his sons Billy and John, sister Maura and brothers Padraig, Liam and Michael. Harry will be sadly missed by his loving wife Patricia, his sons Martin, Tom and Mark, brother Frank, daughter-in-law Kay, grandchildren Billy, Anita, Karla, Ian and John and his great-grandchildren Erin Grace and Rose. He is mourned by his brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, a wide circle of friends, neighbours and former ESB colleagues. Noli temere.

Reposing at Smyth’s Funeral Home, Roscommon (F42 NH27) on Thursday evening, February 20 from 5pm until 6.30pm followed by Removal to the Church of the Holy Rosary, Ballyleague (N39 NC89). Mass of the Resurrection on Friday, February 21 at 12 noon. Burial afterwards in Cloontuskert Cemetery. Peter (Pader) McGarry, 1 Cartron Road, Kenagh, Longford

The death occurred peacefully in his home in the wonderful care of his heartbroken family on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 of Peter (Pader) McGarry, 1 Cartron Road, Kenagh, Longford. 

Predeceased by his parents Peter and Bridget and his beloved niece Sharon. Pader will be sadly missed and always remembered with love by his family, his wife and best friend Sheila, his adored daughters Martina, Linda and Samantha, son-in-law Liam, daughter-in-law Sinéad, his two special grandchildren Daisy and Erin, brothers Mick and Seamus, sisters Mary, Bridgie Coughlan, brother-in-law Martin, sisters-in-law Mary and Christina, nephews, nieces, relatives, dear neighbours and life long friends. We will hold you close within our hearts, and there you shall remain, To walk with us throughout our lives, until we meet again. Rest in Peace.

Reposing in St Dominic's Church, Kenagh on Thursday, February 20 from 6pm concluding with prayers at 8pm. Removal from his home on Friday, February 21 to arrive at St Dominic's Church for Funeral Mass at 12 noon. Following Mass, Peter will be laid to rest in Moydow Cemetery. Family flowers only please, Donations if desired to Longford Hospice c/o Connell Funeral Directors or any family member. Frank (Francie) Lennon, Drumbad, Ballinamuck, Co Longford

The death occurred peacefully at the Manor Nursing Home Edgeworthstown on Monday, February 17, 2025 of Frank (Francie) Lennon, Drumbad, Ballinamuck, Co Longford.

Predeceased by his parents James and Roseanne, brother James, brothers-in-law Patrick (Pa) Kiernan and John McGovern. Beloved husband of Mary. Deeply missed by his wife Mary, sisters Ellen and Mary, brother Michael, sisters-in-law Josephine and Kathy, nephews, nieces, relatives and many friends. May Frank Rest in Peace.

Reposing at Our Lady's Manor Chapel Edgeworthstown (N39 WF84) on Thursday, February 20 from 5pm concluding with prayers at 7pm followed by removal to St Mary's Church Drumlish for 8pm. Jack (John) Sloane, Newtown, Kildare / Enfield, Kildare / Ballymahon, Longford

The death occurred peacefully, surrounded by his family at Connolly Hospital on Monday, February 17, 2025 of Jack (John) Sloane, Newtown, Enfield, Co Meath, formerly of Ballymahon, Co Longford. 

Beloved husband of Breda and adored father of John and Ray, loving grandfather of Keelan, Oisin, Darragh and Abbie. Deeply regretted by his sister Anne and deceased siblings, daughters in law Deirdre and Denise, brothers in law, sisters in law, nephews, nieces, relatives, his wonderful neighbours and Friends. Jack will be reposing in Murty O'Neill and Sons Funeral Home, Johnstown Bridge (A83 CD39) on Thursday evening, February 20 from 5pm concluding with rosary at 7.30pm. Requiem Mass on Friday, February 21 in the Church of the Nativity, Newtown Enfield (A83 YY49) at 11.30 am followed by burial afterwards in St Mary's Cemetery, Killyon Hill of Down (A83 P300). George Reilly, 67 Harmony Heights, Cavan town, Co Cavan

The death occurred  peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family, after a long illness bravely fought on Friday, February 21, 2025 of George Reilly, 67 Harmony Heights, Cavan town and formerly Drumheel, Ballinagh.

Predeceased by his parents Peter and Mary, brothers Brian and Alfie and his sister Kathleen. George will be very sadly missed and dearly loved by his heartbroken wife Sue and his beloved children, Georgina (Shane), Sarah Jane (Dozy) and Gerard, his adored grandchildren Shayna, Aimee, Xabi, Sophie, Sergio, Caoimhe, Xanthe and Mason, his brothers Peter, Bob, John Joe and Willie, sisters Mary, Jean and Nellie, his brothers in law, sisters in law, nephews, nieces, all his extended family and many, many friends. May he rest in peace.

Reposing at the McMahon Funeral Home, Farnham Rd, Cavan (H12 C821) on Sunday evening, February 23 from 4pm until 7pm. George's remains will leave his home on Monday morning, February 24 at 10.30am, travelling via the Cock Hill and Ashe Street, to the Cathedral of Saints Patrick and Felim, Cavan, arriving for Funeral Mass at 1am. Burial will take place afterwards in Cullies Cemetery. The death occurred peacefully in the excellent care of the nurses and staff of Portiuncula Nursing Home Multyfarnham on Thursday, February 20, 2025 of Rose (Rosaleen) Coleman (nee Lynam), Loughpark, Castlepollard, Co Westmeath and formerly of Raharney, Co Westmeath.

Predeceased by her husband John, son Sean and brothers Tommy and Maurice Lynam. Deeply regretted by her daughter Marie (Belfast), son-in-law Peter, grandchildren Aoife and Niamh, sister Margaret Lynam, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended Coleman and Lynam families, relatives, neighbours and friends. Joan Tormey (née Gunning), Rathowen, Co Westmeath

The death occurred peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, February 20, 2025 of Joan Tormey (nee Gunning) Rathowen, Co Westmeath. 

Predeceased by her parents Annie and James, her brothers Patrick and James, sisters Nan and Frida. Beloved wife of John, loving mother of Sean, Anwen, Paul, Lorraine and Sandra, cherished grandmother of Glen, Abbi, Alex, Cooper, Tara, Muireann, Torin, Louise and Stass, deeply missed by her sons-in-law Lenny, Niall and Adolph, daughters-in-law Oksana and Nikki, lovingly remembered by her sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family and friends. Reposing at St. Mary's Church, Rathowen (N91 N406) on Tuesday, February 25 from 5pm with prayers at 7pm. Funeral Mass on Wednesday, February 26 at 11am in St Mary's Church, Rathowen. Burial afterwards in Russagh Cemetery. House strictly private please.

Thomas (Tom) Neary, Cloonfree, Strokestown, Roscommon

The death occurred suddenly at his home in Harrow, Middlesex, UK on Saturday, January 25, 2025 of Thomas (Tom) Neary Cloonfree, Strokestown, Roscommon.

Deeply regretted by his heartbroken wife Annabelle, his son Adrian, his sisters Margaret (Brennan), Patricia (Smith) and Mary (Lyng), his brothers James, Eddie, Joe and Eugene, his brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and friends. Tom is predeceased by his parents Edward and Kathleen. Rest In Peace.

Michael Murphy, Green Street, Castlepollard, Westmeath

The death  occurred peacefully, surrounded by his loving family and in the wonderful care of the staff of the Midland Regional Hospital, Mullingar, following a short illness on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 of Michael Murphy, Green Street, Castlepollard, Co Westmeath.

Predeceased by his parents John and Mary Kate, sisters Patty (Lynch), Bridie (Rooney) and Tess (Breslin), and brothers Sean and Vincent. Michael will be forever loved by his beloved wife Nancy (née Macken); his children Fiona, Ita, Brendan and Dermot; sons-in-law John Murphy and Joe Duggan; daughters-in-law Kathleen (Mulvey) and Lorraine (Mooney); grandchildren Conor, Daniel, Lee, Niamh, Adam, Eva, Ben, Rory, Anna and Jack; sister Ita (Connolly) and brother Kevin; sister-in-law Peggy (Moore) and brother-in-law Christy Rooney; nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and a wide circle of friends. Desmond Joseph McNamee, Albuquerque, New Mexico and formerly Kilnamar, Carrigallen, Leitrim

The death  occurred peacefully in the exceptional care of Veterans Medical Center, Albuquerque, New Mexico on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 of Desmond Joseph McNamee, Albuquerque, New Mexico and formerly Kilnamar, Carrigallen, Co Leitrim. (March 23, 1942 to February 12, 2025). 

Predeceased by his parents Peter and Elizabeth, by his brothers Jack, Pat, Jim, and Peter, by his sisters Josie, and Patsy. Desmond will be sadly missed by his sisters Mossie and Kitty, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.

 Funeral Mass on Friday, February 21, 2025, at 10am (local time Albuquerque) at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, with burial in Santa Fe National Cemetery. May he rest in peace.
