Gerry McKenna, Bawn, Killoe, Longford

The death occurred peacefully in Our Lady's Manor Nursing Home, Edgeworthstown, after a short illness surrounded by his loving family on Monday, February 3, 2025 of Gerry McKenna, Bawn, Killoe, Co Longford. 

Predeceased by his father Frank, mother Mary, brother John Patsy and his twin sister Marie. Gerry is mourned by his sister Esther Tallon Edgeworthstown, brothers in-law PJ Tallon and Seamus Dunne, sister in-law Margaret McKenna, his dear nieces and nephews and his wonderful neighbours and wide circle of friends especially the McCormacks (his second family). Always a smile, instead of a frown, Always a hand, when someone is down, Always true, thoughtful and kind, Wonderful memories you left behind. Rest in Peace.

Gerry's remains will repose in Connell's Funeral Home, Church Street, Longford N39 KN66 on Tuesday, February 4 from 5pm concluding with prayers at 7pm. Funeral Mass on Wednesday, February 5 at 12 noon in St. Mary's Church, Ennybegs. Following Mass Gerry will be laid to rest in the family plot in Aughaboy Cemetery. Finola McNulty (née Shedwell), Glack, Longford Town, Longford

The death occurred, peacefully at home, surrounded by her family following a short illness borne with bravery and her customary grit, on Saturday, February 1, 2025 of Finola McNulty (née Shedwell), Glack, Longford Town, Longford. Predeceased by her sons Derek and Gary, parents Michael and Elizabeth, sisters Pascaline, Mary (Mafie), Yvette, brother Michael and niece Lorraine.

Finola is survived by her husband Francis, daughter Jillian, son Fran, daughter in law Doireann (O’Hara), brothers George, Ken, Declan and Joe, sisters in law, brother in law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.

Reposing at Glennon’s Funeral Home, Longford (N39 EC81) on Monday, February 3 from 6pm concluding with prayers at 8pm. Mass of the Resurrection on Tuesday, February 4 at 11am in St Mel’s Cathedral, Longford. Burial afterwards in Ballymacormack Cemetery. The Funeral Mass will be streamed live please go to view here.

Breda Ferguson (née Reynolds), Skerries, Dublin / Longford

The death occurred peacefully in the care of Gormanston Lodge and Our Lady of Lourdes, Drogheda on Saturday, February 1, 2025 of Breda Ferguson (nee Reynolds) Skerries, Co Dublin/ Longford. Predeceased by her husbands Richard (Dick) Ferguson & Michael Gainsford, brother John & sister Mary Ellen.

Sadly, missed by her loving brother Michael, Sisters Elizabeth and Teresa, sisters in law, Lena and Mary, step children Francis, Gerard, Jim, Richard, Ciaran, Bernadette & Avril, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends. May Breda Rest In Eternal Peace.

Reposing at Lannon's funeral home on Thursday, February 6 from 6pm to 8pm, removal on Friday, February 7 to St. Patrick's church Skerries arriving for 10am funeral mass, burial thereafter in Holmpatrick cemetery.

Bert (Patrick) Mearley, Foxrock, Dublin/ Newtowncashel, Longford

The death occurred peacefully in the wonderful care of Our Lady’s Hospice, Blackrock, surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, February 1, 2025 of Bert (Patrick) Mearley, Foxrock, Dublin and formerly of Ballagh, Newtowncashel, Co Longford. 

Bert will be sadly missed by his beloved wife Patricia, cherished daughters Louise and Rowena, loving sister Ann, sisters-in-law Catherine (McDermott) and Bernadette (Boylan), as well as his extended family, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and wonderful neighbours. Bert’s warmth, kindness, and presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace.

Reposing at Massey Bros. Funeral Home, Goatstown (D14 X348) on Wednesday, February 5 from 4pm – 7pm. Removal on Thursday morning, February 6 to the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour, Foxrock, arriving at 9:45am followed by Requiem Mass at 10am. Cremation thereafter at Mount Jerome, Victorian Chapel at 12:15pm.

Philomena (Phil) Browne (née Toolan), Ballyglass, Lanesboro, Roscommon / Strokestown, Roscommon

The death occurred peacefully in the loving care of Sonas Innis Ree Nursing Home, Ballyleague on Saturday, February 1, 2025 of Philomena (Phil) Browne (née Toolan), Ballyglass, Lanesboro, Roscommon and formerly Drinane, Strokestown and Coventry, UK. Predeceased by her parents Jim & Margaret Toolan, her sister Eileen Shiel and son in law Michael Kelly.

Phil will be forever missed by her devoted husband Jim, heartbroken daughters and sons, Helen (Kelly), Teresa (Ormsby), Joseph and Declan, son in law Steve, daughter in law Patricia, her adored grandchildren, Rebecca & Ruth Kelly, Stephen, Siobhan, Aisling & Liam Ormsby, Katie & James Browne, great grandchildren Lottie, Eala & Tommy, her sister Marion Gillooly and brother in law Pete Shiel. Elizabeth ‘Elsie’ McKee (née Sweeney), Doonis, The Pigeons, Athlone, Westmeath and formerly Kilcormac, Co Offaly 

The death occurred peacefully surrounded by her loving family and in the tender care of the staff at Thomond Lodge Nursing Home, Ballymahon on Sunday, February 2, 2025 of Elizabeth ‘Elsie’ McKee (nee Sweeney), Doonis, The Pigeons, Athlone, Westmeath and formerly Kilcormac, Co Offaly.

Predeceased by her husband Frank and her brothers and sisters. Elsie will be very sadly missed and forever remembered by her sons Patrick and Desmond, daughter Maura, daughter in law Lorraine, son in law John, adored grandchildren Ava, Paul, Micha, Ryan & Robert. Sisters-in-law Susan (Nugent, nee McKee), Joan (Sweeney) and Marie (Sweeney), nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and neighbours. May she Rest in Peace.

Reposing in St Mary's Church, Tang on Monday evening, February 3, 2025 from 5pm until 7pm followed by prayers. Henry Crawford, Drumherriff, Drumshanbo, Leitrim

The death occurred peacefully, at University College Hospital, Galway on Saturday, February 1, 2025 of Henry Crawford, Drumherriff, Drumshanbo, Co Leitrim. Predeceased by his beloved sister Jean, Henry will be sadly missed by his loving sisters Dorothy Browne (London), Irene Monson (Boyle) brother George (Derrynasoo) brother-in-law Ernest Monson, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, relatives, his carers, friends and his wonderful neighbours. “Safe In The Arms of Jesus”.

Reposing at the Methodist Church, Drumshanbo on Tuesday evening, February 4 from 5pm until 7pm. Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, February 5 at 12 noon followed by interment afterwards in the Church of Ireland Cemetery, Drumshanbo.

Betty (Bridget) McAndrew (née Mulligan), Beeston, Nottingham and previously of Drumshanbo South, Farnaught, Leitrim

The death occurred peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family aged 91 on Sunday, December 22, 2024 of Betty (Bridget) McAndrew (née Mulligan) of Beeston, Nottingham and previously of Drumshanbo South, Farnaught, Co Leitrim.

Now reunited with her beloved Frank. A cherished mother to Katrina, Bernadette, Fiona, Grainne and Rosaleen. An adoring grandmother to Francesca, Joseph and Ciaran Bond. A warm hearted mother-in-law to Tom and a dear sister to Mary Curtis (Raheny, Dublin). Betty will be greatly missed by her heartbroken family and all those who loved her. Pre-deceased by her loving parents James and Ann (nee Scanlon) and her sister Annie. 

Betty will be received into the Church of The Assumption, Beeston on Monday, February 3, 2025 at 5pm. Her Requiem Mass will take place the following morning on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at 11am, before being laid to rest with her husband Frank at Beeston Cemetery. Live streaming of the Mass will be available for viewing. Benedict Michael (Ben) Quinn, Mill House, Mill Road, Ennis, Clare / Strokestown, Roscommon

The death occurred peacefully at Ennis Hospital, surrounded by his loving family on Friday, January 31, 2025 of Benedict Michael (Ben) Quinn, Mill House, Mill Road, Ennis, Co Clare and formerly of Strokestown, Co. Roscommon. 

Predeceased by his sister Catherine Bain. Sadly missed by his wife Olga, daughters Zoe and Zelda, sons-in-law Niel and Wayne, adored grandchildren Iona, Samantha and Maximo, sister Viola, brother-in-law Petros, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Funeral Arrangements: A Funeral Service will take place at Kennedy’s Funeral Home, Ennis on Friday, February 7 at 2 pm, followed by a Cremation Service at Shannon Crematorium at 4 pm. May He Rest in Peace.

The death occurred unexpectedly on Friday, December 13, 2024 of Sean Kelleher, Mottingham, London and formerly of Mullinadara, Carrigallen, Leitrim. 

Sean will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his loving family, his partner Bushra, brother Gerry, sisters Maura (Nicholls), Bernadette (Murray), sister-in-law,brothers-in-law,nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May he Rest In Peace.
