The death occurred, peacefully at home, surrounded by her family following a short illness borne with bravery and her customary grit, on Saturday, February 1, 2025 of Finola McNulty (née Shedwell), Glack, Longford Town, Longford. Predeceased by her sons Derek and Gary, parents Michael and Elizabeth, sisters Pascaline, Mary (Mafie), Yvette, brother Michael and niece Lorraine.

Finola is survived by her husband Francis, daughter Jillian, son Fran, daughter in law Doireann (O’Hara), brothers George, Ken, Declan and Joe, sisters in law, brother in law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.

Reposing at Glennon’s Funeral Home, Longford (N39 EC81) on Monday, February 3 from 6pm concluding with prayers at 8pm. Mass of the Resurrection on Tuesday, February 4 at 11am in St. Mel’s Cathedral, Longford. Burial afterwards in Ballymacormack Cemetery. The Funeral Mass will be streamed live please go to view here.

Catherine Hennessy (née Barry), Whitehill, Castlebrock, Ballinalee, Longford / Goleen, Cork

The death occurred, peacefully in the presence of her loving family and in the tender care of the staff on Cedar Ward, St Vincent’s Private Hospital, Dublin, on Thursday, January 30, 2025 of Catherine Hennessy (née Barry), Whitehill, Castlebrock, Ballinalee, Longford / formerly of Goleen, Cork, aged 48, cherished wife and best friend of Pascal and best mammy in the world to Aisling and Gerald. 

A devoted daughter of John and the late Mary Barry, a wonderful sister to Linda (Madden), Tom and Sean, an amazing Auntie Atteee to Cathal, Gearóid, Mae, Róisín, Tom and Eimear. Catherine will be deeply missed by her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Connor, Cora, Anne, Sean, Pauline, Kevin, Patrick, Carmel, Raymond and Jennifer. Treasured by the extended Barry, McCarthy and Collins families, her wide circle of wonderful friends and neighbours who loved and cared for her.

Your life was one of kindly deeds, A helping hand for others needs, Sincere and true in heart and mind, Beautiful memories left behind. Ar dhéis Dé go raibh a hanam dílis.

Reposing in Connell’s Funeral Home, Church Street, Longford N39 KN66 on Sunday, February 2 from 3pm concluding with prayers at 5pm. Removal from her home on Monday, February 3 to arrive to the Holy Trinity Church, Ballinalee N39 PP60 for Requiem mass at 1pm. Following Mass, Catherine will be laid to rest in St James’s Cemetery, Clonbroney. Mass can be viewed live HERE. Rose Reilly (née Brady), Enaghan, Aughnacliffe, Longford, N39 H925 / Cavan

The death occurred, peacefully surrounded by her family in the care of the wonderful nurses and staff at Lisdarn Centre, Cavan, on Friday, January 31, 2025 of Rose Reilly (née Brady), Enaghan, Aughnacliffe, Longford, N39 H925 / Cavan. Predeceased by her parents Packie Joe and Bridget and by her loving husband PJ.

Rose will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her family son Martin, daughter Majella, brother John, sister-in-law Lena, daughter-in-law Yvonne, grandchildren Isabelle, William, Senan, Charlotte and Isla, niece Melissa, nephew Patrick, many relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.

Rose will repose at her residence (Enaghan, Aughnacliffe - N39 H925) on Saturday, February 1 from 4pm until 8pm and on Sunday, February 2 from 4pm until 8pm. The death occurred, peacefully, in his 101st year, on Friday, January 31, 2025 of Patrick J Mulligan, Culray, Aughnacliffe, Co Longford / Gulladoo, Carrigallen, Co Leitrim and Dublin, Ex. NT Molly National School and Synge Street, National School, Dublin. Predeceased by his parents Bernard and Susan, brother Thomas, sister Rose Anne Reynolds and by his nephew Bernard Reynolds.

Patrick will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his family, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends. May he rest in peace.

The death occurred on Monday, January 27, 2025 of Baby Rian O'Shaughnessy, Yew Tree Cottage, Longford town, Co Longford. 

He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his mother Jennifer, father Stephen, brother Peader, sister Millie, grandparents and extended family. Gone to the Angels those we have held in our arms for a little while ,

The death occurred at Letterkenny University Hospital on Thursday, January 30, 2025 of Michael Stewart, Woodvale Lodge, Laghey, Co Donegal and formerly Earl Street, Longford town and Portnoo, Co Donegal.

Removal from there on Saturday, February 1 to St Patrick’s Church, Donegal town arriving at 7pm to repose overnight. Funeral mass on Sunday February 2 at 11.30am. Burial afterwards in Clar cemetery. The death occurred peacefully at home in the care of his heartbroken family on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 of Gerry McCauley, Leitrim Cross, Newtownforbes, Longford and formerly of Drumard, Mohill, Leitrim. Predeceased by his parents Barney and Mary. Gerry will be forever missed and always remembered with love, by his wife and best friend Imelda, his adored daughters Sarah and Niamh, brothers Michael, Brian and Sean, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and his many good friends, also his work colleagues and his loyal customers of The Tyre Warehouse, Granard.

The death occurred peacefully in her 90th year, in the loving care of the staff in Laurel Lodge Nursing Home, Longford on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 of Claire O’Rourke (née Geoghegan), Suntown, Rosemount, Moate, and late of Carne, Castletown Geoghegan, Mullingar, Co Westmeath. 

Predeceased by her husband Bernard, sons John and Paul, son-in-law Johnny, brothers and sisters. It is with great sadness and much love that we say goodbye to our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Sadly missed by her children Rosemary, Bernardine, Eileen, Caroline, Seamus, Linda, Conor and Alan, sisters-in-law Maureen and Mai, sons-in-law Eugene, Tom and Kevin, daughter-in-law Lisa, Seamus’s partner Yasmin, and Conor's partner Paula, grandchildren, great grandchildren and all of her extended family nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours, and friends. David Stanley Kay, Derrindrehid, Aughavas, Leitrim

The death occurred unexpectedly and peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 of David Stanley Kay of Derrindrehid, Aughavas, Co Leitrim.  

David was a loving husband to Louisa. David will be sadly missed by his wife; Louisa, his brother; Michael, sister; Lynn, nieces, nephews, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, aunt; Eunice, cousins, extended family, neighbours and friends.

David will lie in repose at Smiths Funeral Home, High Street, Ballinamore, Co. Leitrim (Eircode N41 TD62) on Monday, February 3, 2025 from 12.00 – 1.30pm. Following the reposing a celebration of David’s life will take place at Lakelands Crematorium, Dublin Road, Cavan on Monday, January 3 at 3pm. Betty (Bridget) McAndrew (née Mulligan), Beeston, Nottingham and previously of Drumshanbo South, Farnaught, Leitrim

The death occurred peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family aged 91 on Sunday, December 22, 2024 of Betty (Bridget) McAndrew (née Mulligan) of Beeston, Nottingham and previously of Drumshanbo South, Farnaught, Co Leitrim.

Now reunited with her beloved Frank. A cherished mother to Katrina, Bernadette, Fiona, Grainne and Rosaleen. An adoring grandmother to Francesca, Joseph and Ciaran Bond. A warm hearted mother-in-law to Tom and a dear sister to Mary Curtis (Raheny, Dublin). Betty will be greatly missed by her heartbroken family and all those who loved her. Pre-deceased by her loving parents James and Ann (nee Scanlon) and her sister Annie. 

Betty will be received into the Church of The Assumption, Beeston on Monday, February 3, 2025 at 5pm. Her Requiem Mass will take place the following morning on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at 11am, before being laid to rest with her husband Frank at Beeston Cemetery. Live streaming of the Mass will be available for viewing.
