The death occurred peacefully, in the loving care of the nurses and staff in Thomond Lodge on Friday, April 19, 2024 of Gemma Stroud (née Fitzsimmons), Thomond Lodge Nursing Home, Ballymahon, Longford and formerly Pump Cottage, Cloncullen, Ballymahon. Predeceased by her husband Michael. Sadly missed by her family and friends, especially her friend Kathleen (London).
Funeral Mass for Gemma will take place this Monday, April 22 in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Forgney, at 11am, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.
Seán Lynch, Cleenrath, Aughnacliffe, Longford

The death occurred peacefully after a short illness in Our Lady’s Manor, Edgeworthstown on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 of Seán Lynch, Cleenrath, Aughnacliffe, Longford. Retired Co Councillor. Seán was predeceased by his beloved parents Seán F and Anna (nee Brady), brothers Mick and Brían and sisters Peggie and Maura. Seán will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his sisters Anne Murray, Kathy Lee and Ita McLoughlin, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and extended family. Seán will also be sadly missed by his neighbours and wide circle of friends. May his Gentle Soul Rest in Peace.

Reposing in Our Lady's Manor Chapel, Edgeworthstown, on Friday, April 19 from 5pm, concluding with prayers at 6.30pm. Mass of the Resurrection on Saturday, April 20 at 1pm in St Colmcille's Church, Aughnacliffe, (Eircode N39 K603). Following Mass, Sean will be laid to rest in the family plot in the adjoining cemetery. Seán’s funeral cortege will travel by his home at (12.45 approximately) en route to the Church. The death occurred peacefully, in her 90th year in Mullingar General Hospital surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 of Alice Doris (nee Brady), Aughnashannagh, Ballinalee, Co Longford.Predeceased by her husband Bernard (Barney). Deeply regretted by her loving family Mary Farrell (Mullingar), Sean (Redhills), Greg (Ballinalee), Pauline Jenkins (Ballyclare), Breen (Dundalk), her daughters in-law Clare, Colette and Majella, sons in-law Tom and Gary, her brother Pat (Kiltyclough), her sister's Sr Bridgie and Sr. Marina (Marist Sisters), her 17 grandchildren, her 9 great-grandchildren, nephew's, niece's, extended family, neighbours and friends. The death occurred peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 of Michael Gannon, Whiterock, Longford town. Predeceased by his parents John and Emily, brother Jim and by his beloved wife Mary. Michael will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his family, daughters Celine (Sloane), Anne (Clancy), Joan (Sullivan), Emily (Briody), Mary (Shaughnessy) and Catherine (Greene), sons-in-law, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and close friends. Fr Albert O'Connor, Milltown, Galway / Dromod, Co Leitrim

It is with great sadness that we announce that Monsignor Albert G. O’Connor, a beloved priest of the Diocese of Sacramento, died on Thursday, April 11, 2024 in Sacramento, California. A native of Milltown, Co. Galway and later of Dromod, County Leitrim, he served as a priest of the Diocese of Sacramento for more than 56 years. Msgr. Albert is predeceased by his parents Patrick O’Connor and Mary Catherine McGoldrick, his sisters Dorothy O’Connor and Maura O’Connor (Tuam, Co. Galway), and his brothers Fr. Padraig O’Connor (Mountbellew, Co Galway) and John O’Connor (Chicago). He is survived by his sisters, Sr. Teresa O'Connor, SM, Marist Sisters (Eastpointe, Michigan) and Veronica Ryan (West Sussex, England). He will be greatly missed by his sisters and his extended family: nieces Mary, Teresa, Ann, Sheila, and Paula; Catherine and Barbara; nephews Pat and Michael; Michael, Patrick, and John; grandnieces Gráinne, Sarah and Harper and grandnephews Luke; Tom, Robbie, and Tony; Michael, Gerard, Sebastian, and Hugh; and James; and great grandnieces Hazel and Róisín.
Msgr Albert will be sadly missed by Bishop Soto and his brother priests in California and Ireland, and religious of the diocese, his neighbours, and a wide circle of very good friends. May He Rest in Peace.
A viewing and vigil will be held on Wednesday, April 24 at Holy Spirit Church, located at 3159 Land Park Dr. in Sacramento. The viewing will begin at 4pm and the vigil will begin at 7pm. Bishop Jaime Soto will preside at a Funeral Mass on Thursday, April 25 at 10:30 a.m. (18:30 Irish Time) in the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, located at 1017 11th St. in Sacramento. The burial will follow at 2:30pm at St Mary's Cemetery, located at 6509 Fruitridge Road in Sacramento.
