New and forward-thinking Longford start-up firms are being invited to throw their weight behind a major nationwide competition.

The Bank of Ireland Startup Awards 2014 is a large-scale awards ceremony designed to recognise newly-formed companies for their success both at home and overseas.

Interested businesses can either enter the awards individually or secure their place via a third party nomination.

“It is a unique event which recognises and rewards start-ups for their hard work and success,” said Gerry Prizeman, Head of Enterprise Development at Bank of Ireland.

“Entrepreneurs’ opening their own businesses in Ireland is vital for the continued recovery of the economy.”

It’s hoped the event will attract a strong presence from the midlands and in particular Longford based businesses.

To enter or nominate someone for a Startup Award visit www.startupawards.ie . Entry into the awards is free and is open to sole traders, partnerships and Irish companies in business for three years or less with up to 30 employees.

The closing date for entries into the awards is Friday, August 15 and regional finals will take place in September with the national gala final taking place in Dublin on October 23.

Further information is also available at @BOIbusiness on Twitter and a dedicated hashtag has been created for the event: #boistartupawards.
