Impressive line up for the Longford Rugby Club business lunch

Attendees on the day will hear from some of the most successful in their field

Now in its fourth year, Longford Rugby Club has unveiled the line up for their annual business lunch fundraiser which attracts business people and rugby fans from across the county.


The luncheon taking place on Friday, November 7 will offer a unique opportunity to hear from three performance leaders.
The guest speakers include Su Carty, who became one of the first two women in history to be elected onto World Rugby's Executive Board, Pat Gilroy, an All Ireland winning manager with Dublin in 2011, who also lifted the Sam Maguire as a player in 1995 and Maurice Murphy, Revolut's Head of Lending for Europe.

In conversation with Benny O’Brien, attendees on the day will hear from some of the most successful in their field, learning tips on how to stay focused and involved through thick and thin.


Su Carty is one of the IRFU Representatives to World Rugby.


She was first Women's Development Manager with World Rugby after being appointed in 2009 and she served in that role for seven years.


She has a long association with rugby having played for 12 years with St Mary's College RFC and UL Bohemian.


Pat Gilroy is a former Gaelic footballer and manager who most recently managed the the senior Dublin county team (2009-2012). He led Dublin to their first All Ireland Senior Football Championship title in 16 years in 2011.


Pat was a member of the Dublin team that won the All Ireland for the first time in 12 years in 1995.


He stepped down from the manager's role at the end of the 2012 inter-county season, but he later took up the position of Dublin senior hurling team manger for a year in 2017.


Maurice Murphy joined Revolut in 2021 and he currently serves as Head of Lending for Europe and a member of the management board at Revolut Bank UAB.


He brings over two decades of experience in financial services, including nearly 18 years at AIB, where he had senior roles in credit strategy and innovation.

The event organisers said the business Lunch has become a fixture in the Rugby Club calendar and they are delighted with the great support by the rugby, business and community sectors.


There will be a reception at 1.30pm and the function will start at 2pm with tickets priced at €100 per person. Those looking to attend can find out more from Derick Turner on 086 255 9624.
