British opticians chain Specsavers has poured cold water on reports it is primed to open a new store in Longford town.

British opticians chain Specsavers has poured cold water on reports it is primed to open a new store in Longford town.

It had been mooted the group had all but shaken hands on an agreement to set up operations at a unit along the county town’s Ballymahon Street. However, a spokesman said talk of any deal being imminent was wide of the mark.

“We are looking at establishing a Specsavers in town but the opening date is not yet confirmed,” he said.
