The auction of six lots of land in the environs of Longford town netted over €2.5m at auction last week.
Mullingar estate agent Padraic Murtagh facilitated the auction, while his father James Murtagh was also present, both on behalf of James L Murtagh Auctioneers for the sale.
The headline of the sale was the purchase by Longford GAA of the 32 acre land parcel adjoining their headquarters at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park for €1m.
The land, which is primarily agricultural, is zoned for housing and for industrial or commercial use which makes it an attractive investment.
Three lots were put on the market and sold under the hammer for €445,000, €305,000, and €320,000. One of the lots, a 28 acre parcel, was withdrawn at €300,000 and following negotiations was sold for €480,000.
The final lot, Lisbrack House at the Red Cow Roundabout, which sits on a seven acre site, was withdrawn from the sale at €630,000.
A spokesperson for James L. Murtagh Auctioneers said the house is the subject of “active negotiations”.
