Ballymahon’s Mercy Secondary School TY students successfully restored a vintage Porsche Junior tractor, the first project of its kind in Ireland, the UK and the US.
Transition Year students from Ballymahon’s Mercy Secondary School have taken their unique Projekt Porsche Junior tractor restoration project to Porsche Dublin, where they spent the day filming an advertisement.
The students, who travelled to Porsche Dublin last Wednesday, September 9, were joined by two past pupils, Pauric Connolly of the Leaving Cert class 2002, and John Mahon of the Leaving Certificate Class of 2011.

This unique initiative, in which the students restored a vintage Porsche Junior tractor, was the first attempt of its kind in Ireland, the UK and the US.
The ambitious project has also given students the opportunity to gain practical experience while working on the restoration of the vintage tractor.
Describing the experience as an “amazing” opportunity for its TY Projekt Porsche team, the school thanked Porsche Dublin for its hospitality, with particular thanks to manager John Mahon, a former Mercy Secondary School student, for facilitating the opportunity for the students.
