At it's Annual General Meeting in Ballymahon on January 29, the Sinn Féin Comhairle Ceantair for Longford-Westmeath re-elected Barry Campion as Cathaoirleach.
Mr Campion took over as Cathaoirleach in 2025 in the Longford-Westmeath constituency, and is well known for his activism on progressive issues.
Accepting the position, Mr Campion stated, "The next few years will be busy for Sinn Féin in Longford Westmeath as we continue to grow and challenge the disastrous Fianna Fail and Fine Gael lead government who keep leaving ordinary, hard working people behind and struggling to survive in this prolonged cost of living crisis. We will continue to defend and speak up for farmers against Mercosur and we will continue to lead the conversation on Irish Unity as we head towards a referendum.
We will continue to build a movement that will make a difference in people's lives."
