Kenagh Festival plans on being bigger and better than before. Now in its third year, the event is for the Kenagh Tidy Towns and KDDA (Kenagh District Development Association).

Many efforts have been made to make the town a nicer place, and the funds from the festival will be going towards planting flowers, flower boxes, and painting up the hall outside the village that needed freshening up.

Their efforts this year have also included restoring four derelict houses just outside the village.

Taking place on Sunday, June 29, the event has many activities going on.

Registration for the 10km cycle takes place at 1pm, and the cycle itself begins at 2pm. All ages are welcome for this family fun.

A family costs €20 altogether, and an individual is €10. There is also a short route for smaller children to participate without doing the full length.

The BBQ in O’Boyle’s Yard commences at 3pm, with music on between 3pm to 6pm.

Last year, Cliona Hagan performed for the cycle and BBQ as a special guest with a few songs.

This year, she is doing a full gig with the Sheerin family band, which will happen from 6pm to 9pm.

Tickets for the gig are separate to the cycle, with the BBQ and music half being €15. One of the organisers, Brian Egan, said about those who had spent time to help bring the festival to life: “Thanking volunteers, sponsors, people who get involved–a team effort. As well as our Tidy Towns committee.”

There is a special thanks in advance to everyone who takes part and all our sponsors.

The main sponsor is Peter Hanley Motors. However, any local business can put their name in and be included in the Tiktok video with a small fee involved.

The events between the cycle and concert are there so that different people may attend one or the other.

The previous years have been successful. Many efforts in Kenagh to keep the town in its best condition are acknowledged in this festival.

It is encouraged that people come for this end-of-month event, which will bring plenty of fun for all the family, or those who want to get fresh air, enjoy a bit of exercise and then spend the evening with good entertainment.

It is open to the individual what they want to do.
