Local theatre fans will be keen to see the Newtowncashel production in particular as it is the first time in the group’s 31 year history that they have entered the All Ireland One Act Drama Festival .
Their chosen play, “Cliff’s Edge”, by Paul Beard is set in the present day on the majestic white cliffs of Beachy Head, on the south coast of England. Within this scene are three peculiar characters, a suicidal failed actor played by David Hanley, a maniacally depressed pub landlord played by Conan Casey and a schizophrenic passerby played by Sile Delaney.
The adjudicator for this year’s One Act Festival in the Bog Lane is Paula Dempsey and admission is €12. Concessions €10. For booking and Festival Club please telephone Breege at 09064 32230.
The interaction between these characters as they attempt to come to terms with the events that led them there is the content of this blackest of comedies. This skilfully written play is sure to captivate and entertain drama fans. As well as performing in Cootehill and Letterkenny, we are delighted to be also competing locally at Bog Lane theatre, Ballymahon. We hope our wonderful fans can join us for this exciting endeavour. Tickets for Bog Lane are available from Breege Murray on (090) 64 32230. There is limited seating at Bog Lane so we advise prompt booking to avoid disappointment.”
