This Friday, October 4, the Solas Gallery, Ballinamore will open two new exhibitions.
“Irish Life” by Marie Lee and “Universe Within” by Tommy Flynn will be opened in the gallery at 7.30pm.
It seems fitting that the local artists will open their exhibitions together, as they share a link. Tommy opened Marie’s last exhibition, but their connection goes back further than that. Now retired, Marie always strived to integrate art into her career as a national school teacher, and Tommy was just one of many students to benefit from it. Despite this connection, however, the artists’ exhibitions couldn’t be more different.
Tommy, an architect, creates work full of energy and colour. His exhibition “Universe Within” deals with the stress of the modern world, and the rapid changes everyone must go through.
Marie Lee’s “Irish Life” will provide a balance in the gallery, providing tranquility as opposed to Tommy’s energy. The exhibition consists of paintings of land and seascape.
The exhibitions will be opened on Friday, October 4 by popular artists Colleen Quinn and will remain open until October 26. For more information on the exhibitions, call 071 9644210, visit the gallery’s website on www.solasart.ie or find the gallery on Facebook.
