One of the most anticipated events of the year for the county’s publicans is fast approaching, as nominations are sought for the Longford Leader Community Pub of the Year Awards.
Held successfully for a number of years under the ‘Pub of the Year’ banner, the paper has decided to rename the awards to reflect the important place pubs, their owners and staff have in communities throughout the county.
“We are ever aware of the pressures of the trade at the moment and equally realise the important place that the local bar has in the hearts of the local community and how they can be - and invariably are - the focal point for the communities that they serve,” said the Longford Leader’s Managing Director, Joe Flaherty.
This year will see a number of awards up for grabs, in addition to the overall ‘Community Pub of the Year’ prize. The Categories are: Community Pub of the Year, Best Pint of Guinness, Bar Personality of the Year, and the Hall of Fame Award.
Candidates for this year’s finals will be featured in a special supplement included with next week’s edition of the Longford Leader.
The awards will take place on Wednesday, Septermber 25 at a venue to be confirmed.
