Longford’s Market Square is where it will all be happening this Saturday for the Like Longford Artisan Market & Family Day.
Organisers are still inviting nominations for the ‘dunk tank challenge’. You can volunteer to take part or nominate a ‘friend or foe’, by simply visiting the Like Longford Facebook page and giving the details. Then for €5 you get three attempts to try and dunk them into the 100 gallon drum of water. All proceeds from the day will go the Attic Youth building project.
Amongst those confirmed for a dunking on the day are popular local barber, Billy Beahan of Billy the Barbers and the current Longford Rose, Kathleen Mahon.
As well as the dunk tank challenge, there will be an artisan market on the Square from 11am to 5pm with more than thirty local craft and food producers taking part. There are still some stalls available. For information contact Catherine Kane at 043-3343346.
There will be plenty of entertainment throughout the day with the popular White Chalk performing live. The finalists in the Longford Youth Factor will also take to the stage from 1pm-3pm. A children’s fancy dress competition will take place on the Square from 3pm-4pm.
The event is organised by the Longford Business Forum in conjunction with Longford Chamber of Commerce and all proceeds will go towards the local Attic Youth project.
Jim Behan, Manager at Longford Shopping Centre and Chairman of the Longford Business Forum commented: “It is all about doing something positive for the town and utilising the great facility that is the Market Square. A real plus of course is that we are raising funds for a great Longford success story.â€
