The 2011 Longford Person of the Year has been announced and the accolade goes to the highly deserving Martin Skelly. Recently conferred Leinster GAA Chairman, Martin is a prominent member of the Longford community at home and abroad.
In an announcement from the Longford Dublin Association, the organisation also confirmed that it would be awarding its Special Recognition Award to Mr Pearse Daly “for his long standing unique contributions as a local correspondent with the Longford Leader and the respect with which he is held within his local community”.
On April 2 next, the Longford Dublin Association will host its 57th annual dinner during which both awards will be made to Mr Skelly and Mr Daly. The event, which will include a delicious four course meal, will be followed by entertainment from The Outlaws.
The gala dinner will take place at the Moran’s Red Cow Hotel and for tickets you are advised to email yvonnemccormack5@yahoo.com or contact any of the committee members. Tickets are priced at €50 each.
