Household name tipped as new Liveline host after perfect RTE audition
Dermot Whelan has become a strong contender for the Liveline job, according to Ladbrokes.
The former Today FM star recently returned to RTÉ Radio 1 airwaves to fill in for Oliver Callan, sparking speculation about a more permanent role at the station.
Whelan, best known for co-hosting Dermot & Dave, is now priced at 5/1 to take over from Joe Duffy following his retirement from the long-running show.
His recent stint is said to have impressed the RTÉ bosses as they continue to plot a shake-up at Radio 1.

Cal Gildart of Ladbrokes said: “Dermot Whelan has the profile, the experience, and the personality to make a serious run at the Liveline job. He’s impressed behind the mic before, and punters clearly think he's in with a real shout.”
