A cut above: Young Longford girl praised for selfless gesture

9-year-old Mae Garvey from Edgeworthstown raised an incredible €2,000 for the Laura Lynn Foundation
A bright and compassionate young girl from Edgeworthstown has donated her hair to the Laura Lynn Foundation, a charity dedicated to providing support to children with life-limiting conditions and their families.
In a remarkable display of generosity and courage, 9-year-old (9, as of today, Sunday May 31!) Mae Garvey made the inspiring decision following her First Holy Communion.
Understanding the impact of her gesture, Mae took the initiative to create a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for the Laura Lynn Foundation foundation.
Her efforts have paid off spectacularly, as she successfully raised over €2,000, showcasing not only her selflessness but also her ability to inspire those around her.

“This is a wonderful gesture and such a brave decision at such a young age,” said a family friend. “We’re all so proud of Mae!”
As Mae celebrates her birthday today, she does so surrounded by family and friends who know first-hand the difference she has made to those around her. Through a simple but thoughtful act, Mae has shown how a small gesture can make a meaningful difference to others.
