Peugeot voted 'most dependable brand' in survey of 11,000 car owners

Over 11,000 car owners have voted Peugeot the 'Most Dependable Brand', ahead of key rivals, in the 2019 JD Power UK Vehicle Dependability Survey.

Peugeot ranked highest overall among all brands with the lowest number of problems experienced, followed by Skoda in second place and Hyundai in third.

The Peugeot 208 won the “Most Dependable Small Car” award, with the Peugeot 108, 2008 and 3008 each taking a podium place in their respective categories.

The study is one of the most trusted reliability surveys, with more than 11,000 drivers rating their cars during the first 12 – 36 month period of ownership. Now in its fifth year, it measures 177 problem symptoms across eight categories: vehicle exterior; driving experience; features / controls / displays (FCD); audio / communication / entertainment / navigation (ACEN); seats; heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC); vehicle interior; and engine and transmission.

Des Cannon, Managing Director at Gowan Distributors, Peugeot Importer in Ireland said: “Long-term reliability and customer satisfaction has a direct impact on brand loyalty; they are essential elements to grow any brand. Conquest sales are clearly important, but retention is as important, to ensure sustainable growth. For our part, I am happy to report our new vehicle total satisfaction in Ireland is 93% in 2019, a figure that has grown steadily in recent years.”

He continued: “The J.D. Power survey is one of the most respected ownership surveys in the industry. Whilst we have seen strong customer satisfaction in Ireland for some time, for Peugeot to top the rankings in the UK, it’s clearly further evidence of the brand’s strength and reliability. Peugeot is committed to building vehicles with uncompromising quality and it’s wonderful to see happy, satisfied customers.”

Peugeot was handed the awards as part of the J.D. Power 2019 Award Ceremony, held during carwow’s “accelerate live” event at the Science Museum in London on May 9.
