Longford Landscapes, a book of photographs of natural and urban landscapes from across the county was launched in Kenagh’s Corlea Trackway Interpretative Centre last Tuesday, March 15.
All proceeds from the sale of the book will go to the charity GOAL to assist with the emergency situation in Ukraine.
The first book of its kind, Longford Landscapes is filled with images taken from all over the county.
It showcases many well-known and well-loved locations, such as Corlea Bog Walk, Cairn Hill, and St Mel’s Cathedral, as well as some of the county’s best kept secrets.
The book is funded by Longford County Council with Cathaoirleach Cllr Peggy Nolan outlining where the idea for the project came from. “As a proud Longford woman I wanted to showcase all the many beautiful places in County Longford. This collection of wonderful photography shows us all the beauty of our natural environment and our towns and villages.”
Longford County Council Arts Officer Fergus Kennedy was impressed by the talent on display within the book, “The quality of the photography is truly impressive and highlights the great local talent we have here in Longford. A photo from Lanesboro photographer Brigid Mullooly graces the cover of the book. Many thanks also goes to Shelley Corcoran, an award-winning photographer herself, for helping to curate the book.”
