Longford County Choir held its annual presentation night last Wednesday.
Presentations, amounting to €4,000, were made to Longford Hospice (€1,000), St Christopher's (€1,000), The Alzheimer Society (€1,000), MRI Appeal (€500) and the Longford Independent Living Centre (€500).
Longford County Choir PRO Roger Timlin explained, “These are marvellous local organisations whose members do some much wonderful work for the community. The choir members were delighted to be able to offer assistance to them in their great work.”

To date the choir has directly raised over €60,000 for local charities.
Mr Timlin added, “We have also participated in many fundraising events for other organisations. We could not do this without the wonderful support from our loyal audience and sponsors.”
He said people will have another opportunity to support the choir on Sunday, May 19 at 8pm in St Mels Cathedral, when they present their Summer Celebration Concert.
This will feature well known international Soprano Niamh Murray who has strong Longford roots. More details next week.
