Wedding bells

On Saturday, October 10th last, St. Mary’s Church in Granard was the setting for lovely wedding when Lisa Kiernan, daughter of Breege

and Vincent, Muckerstaff, Coolarty and Cian O’Brien from Rosemount, Westmeath were united in holy marriage. The celebrant of the wedding

Mass was Fr. Simon Cadam PP, Granard and Lisa had her sister Joanne Kelly as her chief Bridesmaid while her sister Bernadette Kiernan and friends Siobhan Zaska and Gerri Lee were her bridesmaids and Cian had Fergal O’Brien as his best man and Philip Gallagher, Barry Neary and Niall O’Brien were his groomsmen. Holly Kiernan and Allannah O’Brien were the pretty flower girls and Aodan O’Brien was the page boy. The music in the church was by Elaine Duignan, Paul Gurney and Rebecca Halliday and the readers were Sinead Connaughton and Alan Kiernan and the reflection was by Catherine Kiernan. Following the ceremony the bridal party and their guests travelled to the Abbey Hotel in Roscommon where they were treated to a beautiful meal an an evening of great entertainment which continued into the early hours of the morning. We join with the Kiernan and O’Brien families in wishing Lisa and Cian a long and happy life together.

Table quiz

On Friday night, November 13th next Bunlahy Area Action Group will host a Table Quiz in Creegan’s and they look forward to your generous support. This group are doing an excellent job in the village and in the surrounding area and are to be congratulated on their efforts in keeping the place so tidy and nice. They also intend running their annual Operation Transformation immediately after Christmas, so all you slimmers take note.

St Vincent de Paul

Garda Male Voice Choir will be performing in St. Mary’s Church, Granard on Sunday, 15th November at 5pm. Tickets can be purchased in local shops priced at €10. Proceeds go to local St. Vincent de Paul. Your support is appreciated .

Supper dance

St. Patrick’s church of Ireland will host a Supper Dance in the Park House Hotel in Edgeworthstown on Friday, November 6th and tickets are now on sale from committee members. Music on the night is by Vincie Carr and Anne McGrory from Donegal and all proceeds go towards the church’s restoration fund. Your support will be much appreciated.

The late Sean Kiernan

The death occurred on Thursday last, October 15th in Tullamore Regional Hospital of Sean Kiernan, Aughnacliffe and late of Cartronmarkey. Sean was son of the late John and Lish Kiernan and was brother of the late Catherine Cadam, Aughakilmore and he is survived by his sister Roisin Reilly, Dring, brothers Paddy, Seamus, Brendan and Ned to who we offer our sincere sympathy at this sad time. Sean was laid to rest in Purth cemetery following Mass at 11am in St. Joseph’s Church, Purth on Saturday morning. May he rest in peace.

Months Mind

The months mind Mass for the late Jennie Slevin, Bunlahy will be celebrated in St. Mary’s Church, Granard on Sunday next at 1pm. RIP.


Tickets for the Ballymore monthly draw are now on sale and sellers will be out and about in the coming weeks and the club will greatly appreciate your support.
