New arrival

Congratulations to Declan and Marie Reilly on the birth of their first baby, a boy recently. This young man is to be named Joshua James and he is a welcome grandson for Hughie and Helen Reilly, Ballymore and for Gerry and Susan Bransfield, Aughakilmore and great grandson for Paddy and Nuala Reilly, Aughakilmore.

Congratulations and best wishes to Joan Sullivan, Aughakilmore who opened her new butchers shop, JOAN’S FAMILY FARM SHOP on the Main Street in Granard on Thursday last. Joan and her husband Peter and their family have been operating their butchers shop from their home in Aughakilmore but now have moved to Granard where they will have top quality meats in stock. Joan is member of the Gannon family from Shroid and she and her butcher Sean Brady are looking forward to providing a top class service in Granard and the surrounding area.


Clonfin Commemoration committee will hold their annual church gate collection at all Masses in Granard on Saturday and Sunday December 6th and 7th and your support will be greatly appreciated.


On this Friday night, November 27th all roads will lead to Murphy’s Lisryan Inn where a fundraiser in aid of Longford hospice will be held. A number of artists like Noel Briody, Eddie Quinn, Frank Kilbride and many more will be entertaining and the night is dedicated to the memory of Mary Hynes and your support will be greatly appreciated.

Garden Club

Granard garden club will hold their monthly meeting in Lus na Greine on Monday next, November 30th at 8-00pm with a guest speakeron the night and all are welcome.

Ballymore ladies football club will hold their AGM on Saturday the 28th of November at 5.00pm in Killeen National School. New members are most welcome, anyone wishing to come on board and help with the running of the club for the 2016 season should attend the meeting.

18th Birthday

Congratulations to Gerard Farrelly, son of Ann and Ned, Rathbracken who celebrated his 18th birthday with a great party in Creegan’s, Bunlahy on Saturday night last. We wish you a very happy birthday Gerard and many more celebrations.


Public prayers for the deceased will be in Granardkille cemetery on Sunday next, November 29th at 12-30pm and in the new cemetery at 1-15pm.

Table Quiz

Granard Area Action Group Ltd. are holding their annual Table Quiz in Fay’s Bar on Friday, 4 December at 9pm. This is well established event and always an enjoyable night. Granard Area Action Group are sponsors of the local Community Employment Project that takes in the parishes of Abbeylara Granard and Mullinalaghta. The annual Table Quiz helps to defray costs of sponsoring the project. As this is the only public fundraiser held during the year the group will greatly appreciate the support of all local community groups and sub-sponsors.

Scor na nOg

Congratulations to Grace Ross on her great win in the Sean Nos dancing in Scor na nOg on Friday night last and well done to all the youngsters who represented Ballymore in the competitions.


Ballymore GAA club will hold their annual general meeting in Killeen school on Sunday, November 29 at 6pm (note change of date and time) and all members are invited and encouraged to attend. Tickets for the club’s monthly draw are now on sale and all support will be greatly appreciated.


We extend sympathy to the friends of Mary White, Granard who passed to her eternal reward last week and also to Ann Columb and family, Carra on the death of her husband Petie last week. May they rest in peace.
