Death of Anna Kiernan
The death took place on Monday, 28th September of Mrs Anna Kiernan, nee Brady, Fyhora, Moyne, peacefully at St Joseph’s hospital Longford. Deceased had been a patient there for the past 2½ years or so. Wife of the late Hughie Kiernan, she was a native of Smear, Aughnacliffe and came to Fyhora over 50 years ago on the occasion of her marriage. She was regarded as a kind and generous person, worked hard and helped out on the farm and enjoyed good health always. Up to a few short years ago she was looked after by her home help and loyal neighbours, her passing is regretted by all who knew her. And her remains were reposed at St Joseph’s hospital chapel on Wednesday until removal to St Mary’s Church, Moyne and were received by Rev Pat Kiernan PP, Edgeworthstown, nephew of her late husband. Also Rev Eamon Corkery PP, Dromard and the con-celebrated Mass took place on Thursday last. Burial took place in Legga cemetery. There were big crowds present on both occasions. Death of Carmel Morrow
There was great sadness when the news was announced of the untimely death of Mrs Carmel Morrow McMooney nee McKeon, Dunmore county Galway and late of Gulladoo, Carrigallen, county Leitrim, wife of the late Joe following a brief illness, borne with great courage and grace on Tuesday, 6th October last. She is survived by her husband Aiden Mooney, sons Cyril, Peter, daughters Claire, Siobhan and Magella and grandmother to 13. Deceased and her late husband Joe were well known in the Arva/Carrigallen region. They built the holiday chalets at Gulladoo and in the 1970s were always filled with overseas anglers. That was during the boom years of fishermen coming to this area. Her children attended St Mary’s National primary school in Carrigallen and following the sudden death of her husband Joe, she sold the homes and moved to county Galway but never forgot her roots. It’s only a short time ago that she came and paid a visit to former neighbours and friends and if they were not at home she would contact them by phone. A native of Cloone county Leitrim, she will be missed from the local area and by her extended family and relations including sons in law and daughters in law. Her wake was held at her home in Dunmore until removal to St Nicholas Church. Con-celebrated funeral mass was on Thursday celebrated by Rev Robert Morrow, brother in law. Afterwards she was brought to St Mary’s Cemetery Carrigallen county Leitrim for burial alongside her late husband Joe. There was a very large attendance. Friends and neighbours turned out as well as her Dunmore friends. Rev Robert Morrow PP officiated at the prayers before burial took place RIP.
The death took place recently in England of Ms Bridget Kiernan, Kilbracken, Carrigallen, county Leitrim following an illness fought bravely.
