Longford swimmers won a total of six medals at the Irish Open Swimming Championships which took place at Dublin’s National Aquatic Centre from Thursday to Sunday last. Three Gold and a Silver medal for Darragh Greene and a Gold and a Silver medal for Gerry Quinn made it a fantastic weekend all round for the local winners.
Darragh Greene won both the Men 50m and 200m Breaststroke Final and finished second in the Men’s 100m Breaststroke Final and he was a member of the UCD team that won the Gold medals in the Men’s 4x100m Medley Team Relay.
Gerry Quinn, a member of Longford Swimming Club, set a new Irish Junior record when winning the 200m Freestyle Final on Day 1 of Swim Ireland’s Irish Open Swimming Championships on Thursday last. Quinn went on to win silver in the Men's 100m freestyle final on Saturday.
