Longford MABS set for staffing boost

Extra staff are to be assigned to assist homeowners struggling with mortgage arrears and personal debts, it has been announced.

Longford’s Money Advice and Budgeting Service is seeking to recruit two mortgage arrears advisors and a money advisor on a part time basis.

The service’s chairperson James Clarke said the positions was a new dimension to an organisation that was very much geared towards helping those in fear of losing their homes.

“It’s important to get the message out there that this (creation of two and a half posts) is something new,” he said.

“Everyone knows that MABS has been here for a number of years but now it is getting that recognition by having the proper experts in place to deal with the (country’s) mortgage situation.”
