Fine Gael’s James Bannon’s hopes of securing a seat in the Seanad are hanging by a thread this evening (Wednesday).
Mr Bannon is one of 36 candidates vying for a seat on the Seanad’s Industrial and Commercial Panel.
Counting for that panel got underway earlier today and after 11 counts the former Legan TD was lying in 20th place overall.
So far, just Sinn Féin’s Padraig MacLochlainn has been elected after successfully exceeding the quota on the first count.
