Fine Gael's Paul Ross said he is 'utterly humbled and delighted' with his superb poll topping performance in the Ballymahon municipal district.
According to the completed tally, Ross accumulated 1,300 first preferences, well excess of the predicted quota of 992.
In 2019, Legan based Ross received a huge 1,217 first preferences and he will be elected for a third successive time this weekend.
Cllr Ross said, "It is a huge honour to get such a large vote. I didn't think I'd increase my vote, I'm utterly humbled and delighted."
He added, "It is about working hard for the five years. Once you do the work on the ground, people accept and see it."
