Longford #LE24: Garry Murtagh's massive 1,459 tallied first preferences suggest he will be top vote getter in county

A look at how vote transfers could shape the 2024 Longford County Council chamber

Fine Gael's Garry Murtagh, with a massive 1,459 tallied first preferences. is set to be the top vote getter across all three municipal districts in county Longford. 

The Granard MD representative believes that with favourable transfers his FG colleague and outgoing Cathaoirleach Colm Murray could cling on to his seat in the Ballymahon MD.

Cllr Murtagh also outlined how transfers will play a huge role in deciding the destination the last of the five seats in Granard MD with Padraig McNamara very much in the hunt to give FG a fourth seat at Fianna Fáil's expense.
