The election count in Longford came to a dramatic ending around 10.30pm on Monday night when Sean Mimnagh, Mark Casey, Pat O'Toole and Martin Skelly were elected on the 7th count in the Ballymahon Electoral Area.
After two recounts following the elimination of Gerald Farrell and John Rooney - both losing out by just one vote in each respective count - matters moved swiftly at the end with Cllr Colm Murray losing out on a seat for Fine Gael.
Mark Casey reached the quota, with Sean Mimnagh, Pat O'Toole and Martin Skelly deemed elected without having reached the quota.
They join fellow successful candidates Cllr Paul Ross and Mark Cahill who were previously elected.
