Cllr Garry Murtagh was returned successfully in the Granard Local Electoral Area as the poll-topper, exceeding the quota on the first count on Sunday evening.
The Fine Gael candidate polled 1,450 first preferences, comfortably surpassing the quota with a surplus of 265 votes.
He was joined by non-party candidate, Cllr Turlough McGovern and Cllr Paraic Brady (FG).
Cllr Colin Dalton (FG) is in fourth place at the moment with 820 votes- 365 votes short of the quota.
It looks to be a straight fight between Cllr Pádraig McNamara (FG) on 699 votes and Fianna Fáil's David Cassidy, on 543 votes, for the fifth and final seat on the Granard Municipal District.
