The latest headlines for Thursday, June 7.

Nicky McFadden, Fine Gael TD For Longford-Westmeath, has vowed to carry on representing the constituency, despite being diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease. Her party colleage, has praised her courage and determination for contiuning in politics.

As the number of planning applications continues to fall across Ireland, the latest figures from the National Housing Construction Index reveal that Longford is the only county in the country where the number of applications has increased.

In sport, a last-gasp goal for Cavan at Pearse Park last night denied Longford a place in the Leinster Junior Football Championship final. Meanwhile, Glenn Ryan has once again named an unchanged starting line-up to face Wexford in the Leinster Senior Championship quarter-final replay in Tullamore this Sunday.
