Longford manager talks success and upcoming challenges

Longford manager Glenn Ryan talks to Conor Barrins about the team’s recent victory over Wexford in the Division Three final, and the challenge faced by Laois in their Lenister Championship opener.

Ryan reveals that in pre-season discussions, the players made it clear that their main ambition for 2012 was to gain Division Two status, despite only securing promotion from Division Four a year ago.

After their impressive victory over Wexford at Croke Park, attention now turns to the Leinster Championship and the upcoming fixture against Laois. Longford haven’t had much to cheer about in the competition in recent times, with the team failing to notch a single victory in the past four years. However, Glenn Ryan highlights the strength of the current squad, and in particular the younger players brought through by Padraig Davis, as having the ability to turn things round.
