Glennon Brothers Pearse Park on June 6th or 7th
Following their fantastic win over Clare in Ennis, Longford are facing yet another very tough task in the Tailteann Cup with a Round 3 clash against Down at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park on Saturday June 6 or Sunday June 7.
After defeating Leitrim by a wide margin (1-27 to 0-16) in the preliminary round in Newry, Down then suffered a surprise defeat (3-22 to 1-20) against Offaly in Tullamore on Saturday last.
It was a rude awakening for the Mourne men who had scored a shock win (3-21 to 1-21) over Donegal in the Ulster Championship quarter-final in Letterkenny but then crashed to a humiliating hammering ( 3-33 to 0-14) against Armagh in the semi-final in Clones.
Down are still regarded as the favourites to win the Tailteann Cup but the pressure is on in the must win match against Longford with the losers making their exit from the Tier 2 Championship.
The complete Round 3 draw is as follows:
Leitrim v Wexford
Wicklow v Tipperary
Longford v Down
London v Sligo
Winners advance to the quarter-finals against Antrim, Laois, Fermanagh and Offaly
