Longford’s answer to the legendary Barry McGuigan, 14-year-old Martin Nevin (son of Mickey), scored a massive success in his brilliant boxing career when he claimed the title in his division of the prestigious Cadets tournament.

Staged in the National Basketball Stadium in Tallaght on Sunday, there was just no stopping the two-times All-Ireland Youths champion who powered his way to a terrific unanimous 5-0 victory over another All-Ireland champion.

After winning 32 out of his 35 competitive bouts during his tremendous progress in the sport, Martin has now qualified to represent Ireland in an International Tournament in Turkey and is doing Longford proud with his top ranking exploits in the boxing ring.
