Longford bands to play at Indiependence ‘19

Longford Summer Festival - Brave Giant topping the bill with epic Saturday night gig

Brave Giant are to star at Cork's Indiependence Festival.

Summer is only a matter of weeks away now and music-lovers across the country are looking forward to several months of music festivals.

And Longford is set to be well-represented at one popular festival in Cork this August with two local bands being announced last week as part of the line-up.

Indiependence Festival kicks off in Mitchelstown, Co Cork from August 2 to 4 with a spectacular lineup including Drumlish band Brave Giant and Granard man Joe Regan's band, State Lights.

The two bands are preparing to share the stage with the likes of Bastille, Biffy Clyro, Gavin James, Chasing Abbey, Hermitage Green and plenty more at one of the most popular Indie music festivals in the country.

Brave Giant have also just been announced for the line-up of Kaleidoscope Festival in Co Wicklow at the end of June.
Kaleidoscope is Ireland's first family friendly camping festival and will see big names such as Bell X1, Hermitage Green and Jerry Fish Electric Slideshow among others take to the stage at Russborough House in Blessington.

More information on the festival can be found at

Brave Giant have also recently announced details of their next headline gig in Dublin's Olympia Theatre on November 9.

The band revealed to the Leader in late 2018 plans to record their debut album this year, though no date has been announced yet for its release.

Meanwhile, State Lights are still on the rise with a new single, Lonely, receiving a hugely positive response earlier this year.

The band recently sold out its first headline gig with MCD productions in the Workman's Club Dublin, and have just announced details of their next headline gig at Whelan's Live on October 5 with MCD Productions. Tickets available via

“We’re thrilled to be heading back to Cork to play Indiependence in August,” said Granard man and State Lights guitarist, Joe Regan.

“We’ve played the festival twice before and have had an awesome time on each occasion. It’s a festival that’s growing year on year and the line up this year is amazing.

“Sharing the stage with great acts like Bastille, Catfish and The Bottlemen, Biffy Clyro and Gavin James is a really exciting prospect.

“We’re also soon releasing our next single, titled Open Your Arms. It’s a very colourful track and we hope it’ll be received well going into the festival season!”
