From social dances to lottos, the Longford ICA Federation have had plenty going on
Federation meeting
We had a very enjoyable meeting on Tuesday last September 30. Thanks to the ladies from Ballymacormack Guild for their hospitality and beautiful supper. Competitions on the night were Art, Decorate a picture frame with sea shells, congratulations to Nuala Rollins from Newtowncashel guild on coming out the winner . Craft was Best decorated pumpkin, Kathleen Leslie from Ballinamuck was the winner in this section and produce was A selection of homegrown veg and Longford Town member Angela was the winner in this with her box of home grown veg , congratulations to all the winners and thanks to all who took the time to take part in the competitions, photos can be found on our facebook page, Longford Federation ICA.

Lotto
Our Lotto takes place tonight Wednesday in Kenagh for a jackpot of €900, tickets can be purchased from any guild member or from Bells shop Newtownforbes, please make sure all sold tickets are in before 8pm to be included in the draw, thanks to all who continue to support our lotto and to the guilds for hosting.
Teachta news/ An Grianan
Can I ask Guilds who currently do not have a Teachta to please elect one and send name & email address to Federation Teachta Catherine Gallagher this will help in keeping guilds up to date with all activities in An Grianan.
Cookery Cup
Our cookery cup will take place on Tuesday, October 21 in ICA HQ, details of competitions are on the October page of the calendar, we will also have a speaker on the night, so put the date in your diary and we look forward to a nice evening.
Some upcoming events in An Grianán
Christmas One day demonstrations - November 26, November 27, December 3, December 4, December 5. Christmas Party Weekend Friday 28 - Sunday 30 November. All details are in the Programme booklet 2025.
Longford Weekend - 15th - 17th May 2026. Course details to follow. Arts Weekend - Friday 24th - Sunday, 26th October. Courses include Watercolours, Calligraphy, Drama, Pebble art & craft. Members wishing to attend courses must book directly with An Grianán.
Activities in ICA HQ this week
Classes are open to all. Wednesday 6 to 6.50pm Pilates.
Thursday 12.30 to 1.30pm Chairobics. 8pm Keep Fit with Line Dancing. Friday 11am to 1pm Craft Morning; Saturday 4pm to 6pm Crochet class with Virginia. Line dancing is back in the chestnut tree on Monday night, October 6.

Social Dancing
Longford Town ICA Guild supported by Longford Nighttime economy are holding a social dancing evening on Sunday, 12th of October in the Temperance Hall Longford from 6 pm to 8pm. Refreshments will be served. Music by Sean Hussey. It is a great opportunity to meet up with people to have a chat and a cup of tea even if you don't want to dance and to listen to great music. All the better if you enjoy dancing. Admission is €10. All are welcome.
Open night in Ennybegs
Ennybegs Guild meets on the 2nd Monday of the month at 8pm in the community centre. They are looking for new members to join them and are holding an open meeting on Monday, October 13, if there are any ladies in the area that might like to join ICA or just see what we do please feel free to come along on the night for a chat and a cuppa. Everyone has something to offer and the ladies would love to see new faces at their meetings. Federation President Olive and Recruitment Officer Linda will be in attendance on the night and along with the ladies from Ennybegs we will do our best to answer any questions you may have. There is no pressure on you to join, come along on the night , have a chat and sure once you come in you won't want to leave, we look forward to seeing you all on the night.
