Laura Jo, David Hope and Moon Looks On will be performing 'A Night with Ireland's Songwriters'
There is to be “A Night with Ireland’s Songwriters” (Laura Jo, David Hope and Moon Looks On) at Backstage Theatre, Longford Wednesday, September 17 at 8pm.
Laura Jo, a Mullinalaghta native, is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist praised by Hot Press and RTÉ as “a serious talent.” Having toured in over 40 countries, she has performed with projects including Biird, The Young Irelanders, Billow Wood, Briste, and Perfect Friction. Her debut singles Places (2022) and Bright Eyes (2023) earned critical acclaim, including the Wildcard Public Vote in the Hot Press and IBI “A New Local Hero” awards. A skilled performer on guitar, banjo, mandolin, and piano, Laura Jo has graced stages from RTÉ’s Late Late Show to Trafalgar Square, Electric Picnic, Dubai World EXPO, and All Together Now. Recent collaborations include Eurovision winner Charlie McGettigan, country star Johnny Brady, and the legendary Sharon Shannon.

With appearances at Forest Fest, RTÉ Radio 1’s Ray D’Arcy Show, and a TG4 Geantraí feature on the way, Laura Jo is building toward her highly anticipated debut EP in 2026.
Clare singer-songwriter David Hope is known as one of Ireland’s most powerful and consistent live performers, playing over 200 shows a year across Europe and Ireland. His fifth studio album “…and the Sea” (2022), produced by Christian Best, showcases his most authentic and accomplished work yet, blending raw live energy with studio finesse.
Performing as Moon Looks On, Stephen Gormley is captivating audiences with a powerful acoustic duo alongside Matthew Hurrell O’Connor. His 2024 album Way Out West, produced by Bill Shanley, blends raw emotion with folk roots, earning praise across Irish and UK media. With major festival appearances from Glastonbury to Electric Picnic and over 250k Spotify streams on Razor Wire Skies, Moon Looks On is fast becoming a standout voice in modern folk.

Together, these three acclaimed voices promise an intimate celebration of Irish songwriting at its very best. This Longford date is part of a nationwide tour with shows also taking place in Monroes Galway, Whelans Dublin, Bree Sligo and Kennys Lahinch throughout September.
