Donal Ryan is set to publish his X novel, one which might send your heart spinning - or, crack it in two.
This August, the Limerick lecturer will release his eighth book, titled Heart, be At Peace.
A sequel to his debut The Spinning Heart, Donal’s new novel takes us to a small town in rural Ireland, where people have weathered the storms of economic collapse and are now looking towards the future. But a fresh menace is creeping around the lakeshore, as the peace of the community is about to be shattered.
Young people are being drawn towards the promise of fast money whilst the generation above them tries to push back the tide of an enemy no one can touch.
Described as a stunning lyrical novel told in twenty-one voices, Heart, be at Peace can either be read independently, or as a companion to The Spinning Heart.
Over the years, the author has been asked many times about the fate of the characters of his debut novel, which was translated in about 30 languages. To this day, The Spinning Heart remains Donal’s most translated book.
Heart, be at Peace will be published on Thursday, August 15.
