The annual dinner dance of the Longford and Carrick-on-Shannon Regional Pioneers was held in the Rustic Inn, Abbeyshrule on Friday, October 16 last.
Up to one hundred attended from all centres in both regions and were served up a sumptuous four-course meal followed by a dance and the music for the same was provided by legendary Longford entertainer Séamus Farrell.
Three Leitrim centres from Kiltoghert, Drumshanbo and Kiltubrid were well represented at this eagerly looked forward to social event for pioneers.
Adrian Lennon (Longford President) welcomed all to the event and had a special welcome for Fr Merlyn Kenny the PP in Newtowncashel who is the Longford Regional Spiritual Director, and also Fr Tony Gilhooly the CC in St Mel's Cathedral and the Spiritual Director of the Ardagh and Clonmacnois Diocesan Council.
Glad to see Fr Merlyn almost fully recovered after recent successful heart surgery.
Meanwhile, the Regional Remembrance Mass is scheduled for Friday, November 6 at the Church of Blessed Virgin Newtowncashel at 8pm.
The PP is Newtowncashel is the aforementioned Fr Merlyn Kenny who was a former spiritual director of the Kiltoghert centre and guided them successfully through their centenary celebrations in 2014.
Longford Live photographer Declan Gilmore captured this gallery of photos from the dinner dance and we hope you enjoy them.
