Lory Meagher Player of the Year Cian Darcy of Longford has been named on the Irish team for the upcoming Shinty/Hurling International Exhibition match against Scotland in Ennis later this month. 

The Tipperary underage All-Ireland medal winner and Kilruane MacDonagh's clubman will join other hurlers from right across the country for the game on Saturday, October 26 at 3.30pm in Cusack Park in Ennis.

The Shinty/Hurling International Exhibition match has been a long-standing tradition, bringing together top talents from both Scotland and Ireland in a thrilling showcase of shinty and hurling skills.

Six of last years’ panel return with Enda Rowland (Laois), Caolan Taggart (Down), Luca McCusker (Fermanagh), James Toher (Meath), Eoghan Cahill (Offaly) and Ben Conneely (Offaly).

The team is being jointly managed by Terence ‘Sambo’ McNaughton (Antrim) and Michael Kavanagh (Kilkenny).

"We are delighted with our progress; we have a strong panel assembled for the Hurling-Shinty International with representation from 11 counties," said joint manager Michael Kavanagh.

"It’s vital that we as an Association maintain our traditions, and this event affords hurlers from all tiers the opportunity to play together. The players are all looking forward, as are all our management team to October 26th when we welcome the Scotland team to Páirc Uí Chíosóg."
