Longford athlete Fiona Gettings won an excellent silver medal in the 3000m on Sunday at the European Masters Championships in Poland.
In a classic tactical championship race, the pace picked up significantly in the last 400m as Fiona and Polish athlete Ewa Jagielska traded positions at the front before Ewa sprinted clear for gold.
Newbridge AC runner Michelle Cox came through to take bronze.
Fiona showed great speed and strength and has clearly prepared very well for these championships.
Best wishes to her on Tuesday morning when she will look to add another medal in the 8km cross country.
