National Community Games Indoor Soccer Finals are coming to Longford

Longford Community Games are delighted to announce that the 2024 National Indoor Soccer Finals will be held in Kenagh, Longford on May 25 next year.

The announcement was made by Chairperson of Longford and Leinster Community Games Mr Joe Fox, at the recent Longford Community Games meeting.

Mr Fox told the Committee that it was a great day for Longford and the County are looking forward to having the competitions in Kenagh next year.

Mr Fox also spoke of the wonderful successes of Longford Community Games over the last couple of years and how they have gone from strength to strength since the 2020 pandemic.

Mr Fox spoke with pride of the 13 national titles and 15 Leinster Titles that Longford Community Games secured in 2023.

Longford County Council Cathaoirleach Colm Murray who was also in attendance, congratulated Mr Fox and the Longford Committee for securing the National Indoor Soccer Finals.

Cllr Murray also congratulated area committees for their hard work in facilitating events for children in their areas and wished them every success for 2024.

Speaking of the backing the organisation received, Mr Fox is grateful to all who have helped them over the years and thanked North Midlands Credit Union and Longford County Council for their support.

Mr Fox also thanked the Longford Leader for their ongoing support and great coverage of local, regional and National Community Games events.

Mr Fox was also very modest about the hard work he puts into Community Games. “I’m only the captain of the team and I have a very good team. We are a volunteer organisation, with great volunteers, holding the National Finals will be a huge boost to our local economy with high numbers expected to visit the County over that weekend.”

Mr Fox was also delighted to announce that the 2024 Longford Community Games Volunteer Awards will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024 in the Rustic Inn, Abbeyshrule.

Tickets can be purchased from Mr Fox or from Area Secretaries in Longford. Mr Fox added that present and former volunteers are very welcome to attend the awards night.
