As the eyes and ears of the nation were fixated on the exploits of our Olympic boxers last week, another Irish Olympian with local connections was busy making his own mark at London 2012.
Gavin Noble turned in a superb performance to finish 23rd in the triathlon, completing the course in a time of one hour, 49 minutes and 47 seconds.
The 31-year-old Enniskillen athlete is the son of Mary Cafferty, formerly of the Breffni Arms Hotel, Arva, Co Cavan.
Despite finishing outside of the top 20, Gavin’s still managed to post a time that was just three minutes behind eventual winner, Alistair Brownlee of Great Britain.
