Paddy Christie's Longford bowed out of the Tailteann Cup as they suffered a 1-12 to 1-20 defeat away to Down in the Preliminary Quarter-final. Longford led 1-8 to 0-8 at half time thanks to a Joe Hagan goal and midway during the second half the sides were deadlocked at 1-11 apiece before Down finished quite strongly and powered their way to an emphatic win.
