Tanden Dojo karate school in leader house have the pleasure to announce that Sensei Matsue from the Hombu Dojo in Japan will be teaching in our dojo very soon. Sensei Matsue has excepted our invitation to come to Longford and teach our students, the Hombu Dojo in Japan is the headquarters for all the JKS Dojo’s around the world and Matsue Sensei is one of its top instructors. As well as training and teaching in what’s regarded as the home of the best karate ka (karate practitioners) in the world Matsue Sensei is the current World Kata Champion and also holds the position of the Japanese team captain where he lead the team to another World Championship medal.
Word has been spreading to Dojo’s all around the country that Sensei Matsue is coming to Tanden Dojo from Japan and they are all trying to book their place on the course, places are limited and the students from Longford will have priority over everyone else. We will be taking full advantage of this special opportunity to train with by far one of the best in the world and students at every level high grades and low grades young and old will have the chance to take instruction from Sensei Matsue.
If anyone is interested in learning karate for any reason sport, fitness, self-defence or to build concentration or confidence Tanden dojo runs classes every week upstairs in Leader house as well as in Kenagh and Edgeworthstown.

Longford Scuba Divers
Pool Training - Pool training will resume next Friday at 8 pm sharp. It was nice to see Mick Gillen back in the water after his recent encounter with a neighbours dog, Can all members be on time to get the best out of our 45 min slot, but no fins in pool until 8pm. On pool duty this week is Joe Kelly, Mick Gillen, Paul and Mark Gilroy, Following pool training there will be a lecture on ‘Respiration and Circulation”. And will be presented by Joe Kelly in Milo’s.
Bon Voyage - Best wishes to Own Connell who leaves for Australia this week, The Club would like to wish him all the best and safe travelling. Hope you have a good time in your new adventure.
Matsubayashi Shorin Ryu International Karate
Competition: We are currently in the process of organising our next inter club tournament. Full details will follow next week. If anyone is interested in taking part in Kata and/or Kumite competitions they are asked to submit their name to their Sensei. Students are encouraged to take part in the competitions. It is a great way of developing knowledge as well as getting to know the other students in our organisation and if past competitions are anything to go by it really is a fun day.
Memberships: Club secretaries are asked to submit any outstanding memberships to Hombu Dojo as soon as possible along with any outstanding paperwork.
Training times: A number of changes have been made to club training times due to the large numbers of students attending our classes. Please check with club Sensei for details of your club. Remember new students are always welcome at any of our clubs and for details of clubs in your area please contact organisation secretary on 087 9248816. Remember your first class is free and family discounts apply.
Camlin & District Angling Club
Please note the change of date for our AGM. It will now be held on Tuesday 5th February at 8.30 p.m. in John Browne’s and all members are invited to attend.
Our next competition will be held on the 24th of February at Lanesborough. This is the Ray Gill memorial competition and is also our annual “Blessing of the boats “ competition.
